Is he claiming single with 0 deductions + $xxx?

Or does he owe back taxes they are collecting?

Or does he make $3800 per week which would put him in a really high tax bracket?

That doesn't sound right. Should be the other way around. He should be clearing 60%, not paying 60%. Is he contributing a large % into his 401k or paying a lot for medical?

Yeap... I guess to fend off the tax man; you can have like 7 kids and pretty much skip filing taxes and go get welfare. Then you'd have 7 kids to take care of though :(

That's not right. I gross $2040, and I get just under $1500. And that's after wife's health insurance deductions. He probably has other things deducted too (stock purchase, 401K, family's health insurance)

And you sai he cleared $1500.
Out of the $2300 taken out of the paycheck:

How much was taxes?
How much was medical?
How much was 401k?
And is he paying off a previous loan from his 401k?

I gross in the vicinity of $3000 every two weeks and my check comes to about 58% of my gross. I do contribute $500 every pay period to a 401(k). If I didn't save at all (which isn't an option), I would get about 71% of my gross. Single, no dependents. It was worse before the recent federal tax cuts.
