Well you'll never get an informed synopsis of the substantive misconduct allegations from any website that would be reporting on Jack Thompson. Something about the average 15 year-old not having the least clue about legal matters and all. They are content to have people think Thompson is being disbarred because he believes that video games with violent or mature content should not be marketed, sold, or played by minors. Hell, I think most of them actually believe that is the reason he is facing disbarment.

Jack Thompson is an excellent example that no matter how iron-clad the argument nor conclusive the evidence in support of it, an idiot or crack-pot who can't rationally and competently articulate the argument or evidence in support of it can discredit the position or argument itself. i.e. ad hominem

Me thinks not.

You should vouch that he is certifiably insane. 😉

Sadly even with him disbarred Crazy Jack won't go away, expect him to be protesting video games or music, or anything else anyone might enjoy for years to come.

Yes, more porn games for kids!

Porn games aren't intended for kids. If idiot parents buy them for their kids, blame the parents.

Please tell me you aren't serious. The porn game industry in America is practically nonexistent, as retailers don't carry AO games and there is little to no market for sexual games in America.

Also, I love how you, and the rest of America, ignores the overwhelming violence in video games, including mutilation, decapitation, murder, genocide, and extensive gore, but go crazy when minor sexual details are added.

It's okay to depict scenarios of hate, violence, and destruction, but as soon as what is usually a loving, compassionate act beneficial for both parties is introduced (sex), the game becomes unsuitable for publication.

Additionally, when you mention kids you bring up an irrelevant argument. If parents would do even a tad bit of research, such as reading the label of what they are buying, then kids would never get the imaginary porn games above their legal maturity level unless a parent intervenes.

I would've thought that everyone on ATOT would know who this asshat is. Thank goodness, but I'm going to guess that he'll be in the news again at some point, in some way. He's persistent like that.

Hopefully chicken noodle news and the like will at least stop sticking his talking head up there during news stories with bullshit like "expert video game lawyer" printed under it. The guy is a fucking batshit loon.

Yes, Jack Thompson was the only thing holding back the flood gates of porn games for kids. Now millions of porn games are going to be released to grad schoolers around the country. AND THOSE CHILDREN WILL CATCH THE GAY!

Jack Thompson is a menace who has never done a single positive thing for the entertainment industry OR for the children he is trying to protect. His actions, legal or otherwise, are at best insane and at worst malevolent.

If you had any idea what an asshole this guy is, then you wouldn't be rolling your eyes; you'd be applauding a right decision by the Florida Bar Association. This guy doesn't deserve to be a lawyer after so many years of tasteless behavior.

The amended complaint has a few notes of worth.

Among the extensive findings of fact presented in the report, the Court takes particular note of the following which occurred during the three-year period at issue in five counts in these cases: (1) respondent made false statements of material fact to courts and repeatedly violated a court order; (2) respondent communicated the subject of representation directly with clients of opposing counsel; (3) respondent engaged in prohibited ex parte communications; (4) respondent publicized and sent hundreds of pages of vitriolic and disparaging missives, letters, faxes, and press releases, to the affected individuals; (5) respondent targeted an individual who was not involved with respondent in any way, merely due to "the position [the individual] holds in state and national politics;" (6) respondent falsely, recklessly, and publicly accused a judge as being amenable to the "fixing" of cases; (7) respondent sent courts inappropriate and offensive sexual materials; (8) respondent falsely and publicly accused various attorneys and their clients of engaging in a conspiracy/enterprise involving "the criminal distribution of sexual materials to minors" and attempted to get prosecuting authorities to charge these attorneys and their clients for racketeering and extortion; (9) respondent harassed the former client of an attorney in an effort to get the client to use its influence to persuade the attorney to withdraw a defamation suit filed by the attorney against respondent; and (10) respondent retaliated against attorneys who filed Bar complaints against him for his unethical conduct by asserting to their clients, government officials, politicians, the media, female lawyers in their law firm, employees, personal friends, acquaintances, and their wives, that the attorneys were criminal Case Nos. SC07-80 and SC07-354 Page Three pornographers who objectify women

Gamepolitics.com has done a very good job of covering what he has done and the entire process. Of particular note is item 7, Jack Thompson sent the court documents that included gay pornography at one point. Truly a real classy guy.

I am not sure if any of his work in the gaming area ended up being a part of the 31 violations, however much of his work in that area exemplifies it perfectly. Including his massive threats to everyone and anyone.

However, his arguments in the gaming area were not perfect, they were filled with fucking holes. Which is why the majority of his work was him running face first into a brick wall.

Edit: Also, your post comes across as pretty goddamn snotty.

According to the wikipedia article linked, Thompson seemed to win as many as he lost.
He was also pretty clear that it was the sale to minors of violent video games that concern him.

What was very interesting was this link from the wiki:

http://infiniteregress.tv/2007...-screen-with-jack.html

After watching the video, Thompson didn`t seem like a whacko. However, read what Levinson wrote and some of the comments on his article. Levinson is making it out like he got no time at all to speak in the segment? What crack is he smoking. That`s almost a P&N level disconnect there.

No dog in this fight, but something about Levinson just screams video game industry shill.

Anyway, back to ATOT irrational hate.

🙂

The shit he pulled while working against video games were the main reasons for his disbarment. Most of the cases that were mentioned in the complaints were about his behavior on video game cases. GamePolitics has done a very good job about reporting all of his shenanigans in my opinion. While people can always have a negative bias when looking at and commenting on Jack Thompson, the stuff that led to his disbarrment is a matter of record. He pulled crap like misrepresenting himself, conducting ex parte communications, harrassing client, lawyers, clients of lawyers that were not involved in the cases. He even submitted court documents containing porn. The guy is a grade-A loony.

Yes, nothing but unfounded ATOT irrational hate, which is also what swayed every court hearing on this issue and got him smacked with the ban-stick in FL.

The guy is a loon, it took way too long for this banning to occur, he should have been disbarred years ago.
