i've been using linux(mandrake 7.2) for a little over 2 months at home cause i need it for school. i know i can use something else, but the book i bought for the class came with it. i finally figured out how to add another kernel the other day so i might try a different distribution
i still don't really like it cause i can't get used to it..guess microsoft did a good job brainwashing people and getting most of us to stick with windows...
=(

but as each time we finish a project for class...we uncover more and more powers of linux...its actually pretty cool
i just need to get the patience and just forget the windows experience cause eventually i wanna get rid of windows (except for games) and use linux as my main os

You mean like Morpheus? Would Gnutella be suitable? That's what Morheus will use in the future 🙂.

Last time I used Gnutella, it REALLY sucked. Has anything changed? Can it fulfill all my movie and mp3 needs?

Imo linux is NOT a desktop os, i don't know why peeps get so excited over using it. I admit it kicks ass for a server OS. 🙂

Also, whats the point of dual booting or using a win2k box, if your self confessed linux zealot. If your really a linux fan, you shouldn't be even using ms products.

How do you watch movies on RH? i recently installed 7.2 last week but i can't find anywhere where i can make Divx work. If i could find a good program to watch divx movies then i would use my linux box 24/7

Well, this thread is all over the place.

Anyway, congrats on your rejection of M$'s control. 🙂

As for the game thing, that's not an issue either. Some games (Like Quake 3, RTCW, Unreal Tournament, Tribes 2, and others) are either released for or get ported to Linux, while many others, like Counter Strike, can run with the use of things like Wine.

Right now, I only have one computer still running Windows, and I avoid using it whenever possible. When you've been using Linux for 3 months, like I have, you actually begin to feel restricted by Windows. The only reason I'm still running it is because my 802.11b adapter is Windows-only. :|

You'll also soon find the many hundreds of games for Linux that will never be released for Windows, many of which are really, really fun.
