Jalapeno- The guy was sure he fried his CPU,I didnt suggest he buy a dremmel. I only shared my experiance to convince him that it was doubtful he fried his CPU. I even took time to mention that I was talking about 94$ CPU in my endevors as compaired to his expensive CPU. To be honest my whole intention was for gaucho to get up and running at stock speed.

<< Just wash off your jumper attemps with some nail polish remover I bet it posts stock >>

If I didn't feel the need to waste my time responding to bevos unprovoked attack and your burn I prolly could have got that point across better.:(

And your right not all of them used dremmel tools,I bet theres a few people who have even used acids or other chemicals to alter bridging.:D

Its funny, people in the IT industry have arguments over semantics of our sentences, and cant make constructive criticisms, only argue and attempt to belittle on an electronic forum, somehow deriving some sense of superiority from it

And yet the rest of the world calls us nerds, i dont understand...

um... i bought the dremmel because that is one of the tools Tom's Hardware recommends for the job.. i saw the same advice on another website.. In any case, I've always wanted one, this gave me a good excuse for the wife ;).

People, please, I've never said i was experienced, as a matter of fact, i have clearly said i'm an overclocker newbie.. i don't mind being a newbie to this, we all have to be at some time or another. I don't care if I fry the system, i will live and learn. So, as one avid lover of technology to others, please give your constructive criticism and share your knowledge. We all benefit from it and thats what this forum is for after all.

I agree with mael 100%

I havn't hacked on my cpu bridges, butchered my case, or gotten anywhere near my computer with my dremmel tool, yet I find countless uses for it around the house. And Ill say right now anyone with enough mechanical ablity to own a tool box should have a dremmel in it.

Off topic Dremmel hint:Soft Buffing attachments are great for removing dust from cracks, cleanem right out

Yahoo! :D Gotta love the fact that an overclocker can still have the tingling of releaf from recovering a thought to be dead CPU and before that first deep "OH MY GOD ITS ALIVE!"breath is exhaled, considers anouther go at it.

You may want to test the underclocking by only changing the L6 solution before you go grinding away at the CPU. I looked at it and it should be easy enough to test by just closing the 2nd L6 and see if you get a 1100 post. The L4's dont need to be changed for 1100 so,if it does post it will rule out the need to change the L3. I will also add that I had my best success hard modding when I closed the L1's I know it shouldnt matter but for me it did,or at least coinsidence made it seem so.

Disclaimer: Though I dont suggest you do anything but enjoy your CPU at AMD suggested voltage/bus/multi settings. :p :D :p :D

I dont suppose anyone figured out how to unlock the slot1 P3's too? Ive mem/agp probs but I ran it at 600 for ages with 1 stick, but have 2 sticks and a V5, and cant get over 558 3-3-3 now :( .... 5 or 6x would be great, but ive never heard if anyone has achieved this

Gaucho, I hope that you know NOT to use the Dremel on the bridges. The Dremel is used to modify a diamond tipped burr into a chisel tip. The side that still has the diamonds is then used to cut the bridges. I think that I PM'd you about the exacto, the bridges are gold plated tungsten, an exacto has little chance, except that sometimes, by flexing the exacto. the whole bridge can be 'popped off. (Safety Glasses essential incase the exacto knife blade breaks). With your mobo, you might have to rework the L2/L3s as well to match the setting you chose on the L6s. The other mobos that I have helped with, all supported mutliplier changes in the BIOS which can over-ride the BP-FID (L2/L3) settings after the chip successfully initializes.

BTW, instead of cutting the L6, you can insulate the corresponding FID pin on the cpu. Shellac or clear nail polish will do the job. Just make sure its dried well. If you search the net you'll find diagrams that show which pins the L6 bridges (FID) connect to. You will need to isolate FID3 (thats the 4X multiplyer) and your cpu should then default to 8X, which be a good start for 133.

Now that I was educated to dremels am putting a fine tooth 7 1/4 inch circular blade on my worm drive electric construction saw as prep for my future athlon mod.

Of cours that is in the teeth to not be outdone...

Gold plated tungsten well that sure explains why they were so tough to get through. Its almost like AMD didnt want them to be altered.:(;)

Thankd DaddyG.. have NOT, i repeat, HAVE NOT used the dremmel on the CPU.. lol, i may be a newby, but even i have better sense. I read the articles where they use a dremmel to work in the diamond tip.. but now that you got me on the FID pin track, i'm researching that bit. Thanks for all the input to all, even you bevo.

I love this. You guys are a riot! Overclockers are very much like daredevils: No matter how far we push things, we simply have to go one step further! The only difference is we gamble with our computers' lives. The risks are always evident. The fact that someone uses a Dremmel tool on his Processor doesn't indicate a trend or insanity, just a sense of daring. So all you tech-info-cops can put your worried minds at ease.
