I needed help to prepare a bowl of instant rice for myself :(

I'm going to be hearing about this one for a long time around the house (god I hope it doesn't make it to any friends), so I figure ATOT may as well be able to make my life a livign hell over it, too.

...

Seriously, how could you not cook instant rice? How could you not cook regular rice? Just boil it in a pot. Even if the bottom burns, you can still eat the majority of it.

Yea, seriously rice isn't hard to make with a rice cooker. Add proper amount of rice and water and then viola. Mmm that's what I plan on doing when I'm living in my apartment in about 2 weeks.

Eh... that's not too bad. I had a roommate ask me how can I tell when it's done. He was basically trying to boil water for something.

I burned water and ice. I can safely say, "No joke".

You'll at least be able to make tea.

I eat out prettymuch every day for lunch (we have no means to prep food in the 'office')

My girlfriend makes me dinner. She wasn't feeling too good tonight, so I tried for myself. She ended up prettymuch doing it for me because I managed to almost burn down the apartment.

Get a rice cooker and follow instructions. I cook about five days a week to save $$, eat healthy and save time.

Just get a cookbook and practice, practice and practice. Just like building a PC, after you do about a hundred of them, it becomes old hat.

rice cooker?

We have a wide assortment of pots and pans, but we don't even have a FRIGGIN' TOASTER.

If toast is involved with any meal, it's prepared on a cast iron skillet.

Actually, doing PCs becomes old hat after 2 or 3. After about a hundred, you start hating yourself. I should know, I have warranty obligations outstanding on about 400 of them. Fortunately, I stopped before that got TOO out of hand.

At present, I spend a lot of time disassembling PCs for recycling. A lot of the more common models, I can do with my eyes closed and no tool except a torx screwdriver (we get a disturbing number of Compaqs and HPs)

I can't cook, but even EyeMWing could get bread and dip it in mustard like I do every lunch.

Never say cheap to someone who's unemployed (anxiously awaiting interview day) and has a car payment, tuition payments, rent, has already bounced off the credit limits, has felt the pain of having your check card rejected for a $.99 sammich (which I paid for by fishing 4 quarters and some pennies for tax out of the "take a penny, leave a penny" change thingy at the register, and has been borrowing money from friends and the S/O to live for months (I actually hit the $0 available funds threshold BEFORE the entire IT department was terminated, because of the mounting bills, underscheduling, and general unwillingness to pay me on time and in full)

Now that I think about it, I haven't recieved my final deposit yet, either.

You can eat ramen raw in a pinch. Just throw out the flavor packet.

I know some guys who can cook well. They're all gay too.
Continue to feel good about not being able to cook well. You're only a disgrace in the face of hundreds of years of history. :)
