Totally misleading and irrelevant. Prices were much higher than $1.79 before Obama took office, they went down during the winter, back up for the summer, down in the.... you get the picture.

Tell that to the dolts who posted comments in the OP's link. Many are such partisan douchebags they actually blame this on him.

It's only the president's fault when gas prices skyrocket if his last name begins with B, not his first.

It could be 10$ for private vehicles and I would be fine. People can pay for their own pen0r enlargement and quit wasting energy in big vehicles.

Neither party is interested in reigning in oil, food, or other essential commodity speculation market which is now 20+ times larger than it was in 2003. You might be feeling violated at the pump but at least you can afford to eat, many around the world aren't so lucky.

But some people are making money, a lot of money, so it's worth it.

Gas prices need to go up to $6 or $7, and then we can scrap the EPA mileage requirements. They are a terrible way to push the market toward higher fuel efficiency anyways. I'm prepared for higher prices, so I don't mind one bit.

Then we should also double or triple electricity costs as well. Probably should do the same thing for raw materials as well. Weed should also go to like $1500 a joint.

Don't worry that's all built in, include food and everything else.

Good way to inflate the socialist state and stir general unrest among the unwashed.

Excellent plan gentlemen, those mileage requirements might some time in the future have caused you to pay a premium for your Canyonaro, better to nip that in the bud with punitive fees on goods essential for survival.

That's my big problem. No politicians are even concerned. They are more worried about the salt content in a big mac than the people not being able to afford to put gas in their cars.

Where are the "freedom of movement " nut jobs now?

This is what liberals have been stating they want for years. They just want the extra money going to the government.

When the market pushed up prices = bad

When government taxes push up prices = the best

This thread is amusing watching liberals whine about cherry picking. Create a thread about the stock market and watch them talk about how much it has risen under Obama lmao.

that's what makes me laugh. the fucking hypocrites. they blame bush and we had huge threads on how bush was in with the oil cartel to push prices higher.

now? nothing. the same posters are quite.

wich i think is one big problem with the US. Its not longer about the people and the best ideas. Its our team must win no matter what!

lol ok.

As a side note along these lines, what's funny is that as fuel economy has increased people now drive more. Prius owners drive more miles than their non-hybrid owner counterparts. As efficiency increases, people consume more of it. It's called the rebound effect IIRC.

Also note that those of us that lean right are making little of the issue. No news conferences, no demonstrations, no hanging Obama in effigy, none of that.

Personally, I know we'll weather it.

And liberals didn't complain at first about rising gas prices under Bush ... or at least didn't heap the blame on his shoulders. They almost quadrupaled at one point under him. The main blame for Bush came due to his invasion of Iraq which had an impact on the price of oil and other things. That was something he pretty much could hold the blame for. Main reason this seems so high under Obama is because gas had been driven down when he took office due to the falling economy. And the reason it's risen so much in recent months is due to the middle east unrest. And then there was an oil spill in there with a pretty major impact. Had none of that happened the price would likely have remained stable. But then when is anything ever going to remain stable.

But we're told by this Administration that the production of oil from the gulf is the highest its ever been. More oil is driving prices up now?
