Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips has been fired.

Jason Garrett has been named the new interim head coach. Garrett had previously been the Cowboys assistant head coach and offensive coordinator.

I thought Chilly would go first a couple of weeks ago.

Phillips isn't enough of a hardass to coach a team and organization full of egos like the Cowboys anymore I think.
 
I think Jerry finally listened to reason. He had annointed Garrett the successor-in-waiting years ago, and with the dismal performance of the team, decided he needed to evaluate if that was the correct course of action. So Garrett is getting an 8 game audition.

then, trade Romo for 1st round pick, tank the season for another top first round pick.

how epic would that be?

If Garrett wins a couple, Jerry will keep him around, I bet.

I don't know that I'd risk trading Romo. I like making fun of the guy as much as anyone, but he is a good, solid QB. With proper coaching, maybe even great.
 
Now if only I could get so lucky as to have Chilly get fired.... (damn you Brett for saving his job ... again).

He's partially correct, its not official until 4:00pm, but all Dallas local affiliates(ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox) are reporting the decision has been made and press conference will be made at 4:00pm to announce it.

He's good skillwise but mentally I don't think Romo is a winner. He seems to get shaken too easily upstairs, maybe it's maturity I don't know.

=) Where the hell did they get the moniker "America's Team" anyway? That one drives my wife crazy and I think it's rather stupid considering how the league is spread across the U.S.A..
 
I might of help if Jerry Jones got his hands out of player/personnel and let the professionals do their job.
