IMO, Clemens is overrated. We'll see how he does in houston. Maybe in a more relaxed atmosphere, with not so much pressure on him, he'll do very well. If so, good for them.

If not he can walk away at the end of the season 5mil richer. And still good for him.

And the Yankee's, well, I'm sure they'll do just fine.

How can anyone with 4000 ks , 310 wins, and 6 Cy Youngs be overrated

Don't worry cliftonite. People are going to leave the Yankees out this year. But just watch. A couple of "accidental" bathroom injuries to some key players on certain teams, and we will make them all pay! hehe.

Both Clemens and Pettite are great pitchers, however they are also playing in a hitter's ballpark, and without the same spotlight as NY to shine in. I don't know how it will turn out, but I would loved to have Clemens back if you think he is overrated.

Hehe. Should be toned down though, as only Pettite and Clemens know what that rivalry was really all about.

I dont think pettite will do that bad. He is mostly a groundball pitcher and the stros have a better defense than the Yanks. Plus there is no DH in the NL. I think hell still win about 17 games.

Yea, and on top of that we lost another of my favorite players, as Jeff Nelson signed with the Rangers...:(

It will be nice to see the Astros not have to call up some AAA pitchers to fill in the gaps like they have done the past couple years.

Ehh..never cared for nelly that much. I wish they had resigned Pettite, traded for Brown, signed vlad instead of sheff. Imagine this lineup:

Jeter SS
Johnson DH
Vlad RF
Giambi 1b
Posda C
Bernie LF
Matsui CF
Soriano 2B
Boone 3B

Starting pitching would have been:

Brown
Mussina
Pettite
Contreras
Wells/Lieber

This means a starting rotation that could of gone to a rookie is taken by old man Clemens.

Which is a better rotation?

1 Clemens, Pettitte, Miller, Oswalt

or

2 Schilling, Martinez, Wakefield, Lowe

or

3 Vasquez, Brown, Contreras, Mussina

What "Curse"? Only curse I know of is having to listen to Yankee "fans" talk about this supposed "Curse" every damn year cuz they can't make an actual baseball argument beyond that.

How about the year 2000 curse on the MFYs? The one where they make it the WS pretty much every year and can't win because how overrated they are finally comes out, and even Tim McCarver's lovetoy, "Captain Intangibles" Jeter, Mystique, Aura, and a bunch of other BS can't save them? HMMM????

The press conference is over -- the only interesting thing that Clemens said was that he DID go into shutdown mode after last season, so he needs to do a little bit more to get in shape for this season.
