it seems like it'd be easy enough to rig a setup with some kind of video/voice conference chat and something like an IRC room for dice rolling, I'm surprised I've never seen like an all e-group.

Also, didn't Bioware drop the Baldur's Gate IP as well as the D&D license? In other words, there will be no real BG3? Also a BG3 would never be anywhere near as epic as BG2, it would cost billions.

Isn't the D&D license in limbo? I thought it was. It's been essentially dead for a little while. Anyway, Dragon Age is Dragon Age. The BG2 comparison was to get sales. What would have been BG3 was based on a story by Josh Sawyer from Black Isle Software called The Black Hound. It got canned and Sawyer was going to make an NWN2 mod based on it but I don't think that ever went anywhere. It's funny, in interviews the Black Isle guys were saying part of the reasons that BG3 got nixed was 'edgy' moral content, gray area stuff. And now all kinds of other games use that as a selling point and people still eat it up.
