I just flashed my motherboard with the wrong BIOS!!!!!!

ARGHHHHHH

Anyone have a old Asus A7V133 motherboard (dead or other wise) that doesn't want thier BOIS chip anymore?

DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN

Well I tried to flash the bios using my old VP-6 dualie board that I took to work. No luck (Bad news)

(Good News) I bought the VP-6 from a member on this board to replace another VP-6 I had that went down due to bad Caps. From the day I got it, it never worked quite right. I could NEVER get the AGP slot to work, it wouldn't boot with a card in the AGP slot, so I bought a PCI video card for it. Then lately, it started REALLY acting strange. If you rebooted it, you had to clear the BIOS or it wouldn't start. And then it would only run @ 500 and not @ 750 (The speed of the CPU'S installed) even though it WAS running great OC'ed to 850. In the process of trying to flash the BIOS using this board, I decided to try the BIOS chip out of my OLD VP-6. NOW my AGP slot works, and I can get it back up to 850 again! :)

Strange, I guess maybe the BIOS chip was messed up from the day I got it. Since it started acting up, I had about decided to scrap it and build another computer in it's case. I figured maybe the caps in this one were going bad like the first one did. So even though my A7V133 is still messed up, at least ONE of my computers is working well again! :)

Tomarrow I drive to Corvallis where a Anandtech member has offered me a board that I can rob a chip out of.

So all in all, things look like they may turn out well after all!

My thanks go out to all who offerd me thier help during my little "lesson"! :)

You should be able to pull the IC and program it.

I'm sure someone here has a chipwriter.

I may be able to pull the chip and take it to a store and get it flashed with the right bios.

Or I could just bite the bullet and build another computer with the M/B and CPU I have had sitting around for awhile.

Problem is, I need RAID. I bought a RAID card to go in the new computer from someone here, and never got a driver. I don't even know what brand it is..... :(

This is a joke right?

<-- Feels :( for today's youth! :p

I thought if you flashed with the wrong BIOS it was like killing it? I'm a hardware n00b for the most part, all I know is the basics in building a computer. *shrugs* Age before beau - err, wisdom, right?

On another computer!

:p

Actually a friend brought his over for me to re-format and reinstall everything on on Turkey day. He hasn't picked it up yet.

Thankfully, I didn't FLASH HIS BIOS.

Man I've done this MANY MANY times (Flashed a BIOS) and never had a problem. I guess the BIOS posted of the A7V133 trouble shooting forum was NOT THE RIGHT ONE! (Do NOT flash with the 1015 BIOS!!)

There is a site out there you can purchase BIOSes from, but I don't remember it off hand...

Now I just need to find drivers.

stick the card in a winxP box and it should tell you what it is.

Try putting the bios in another computer that let's you flash even with a damaged bios chips.
It'll automatically flash the bios in the floppy.
I'm pretty sure that would work.

Dude, you never, ever, ever, flash your motherboard. It is the CMOS chip you want to flash. The EEPROM chip is capable of being electronically reprogrammed, but your motherboard is just a hunk of crap that couldn't care less.

Just think, I used to have a lot of respect for Marines. ;)
