Well I dont know, you guys believe those JD Power ratings and according to them all German manufacturers are bad, However our TÜV reports, ADAC reports etc. paint quite a different picture so... Believe what you want.

bmw and porsche are consistently near the top. mercedes admitted it took the quality out of the cars and was working on putting it back in. it's only audi and vw that are unabashed bottom-feeders.

What do you mean "Replacing that piece of *$&# Ion" ?? My 2005 ION is the best car I've ever had. I love it! :|

Edit: Also, yuck @ crappy small rear windows on the Astra. I was at the Saturn dealership the other day and checked out the Outlook...nice side windows but crappy rear side windows. One thing I love about the ION is that it has a ton of glass, really easy to see out of. There are some crazy merges in Connecticut and the large windows make it really easy to see who's near you.

Well, one reason I've always considered Saturns is their supposed cheap repairs as I like to buy new and keep my cars for a long time. So I'm concerned about just how "European" this thing will be because to me European is a synonym for Over-Priced-Out-Of-Stock-Parts.

Good chance it will use the ecotec motor, a good and proven history.

If GM doesn't address those issues with the Astra, I don't see the point. I have hope though. The Aura is a great car, so maybe they've finally wised up?

Every person I have known with an Ion (5, I believe) has had major electrical issues. From trunks popping themselves to brake lights that stop working for no reason.

I have a couple of friends that still have their SC2 running after 150k.

anyway I like how it looks, now only if I could lose the Saturn grill and install a Opel ones.... kinda like how ppl modded their Pontiac GTO to look like the Aussie version.
