Its Offical Dragon Age is the Best Game I have ever played!

I am in deep love with Morigan. I mean this in the most serious way possible. What a fantastic game I am giddy with delight. Only time I was this happy after completing a game was Super Mario Bros on the NES.

That is all!!

Cheers,

I really should get around to playing this. It just doesn't look that exciting when I'm watching others play. But neither did Mass Effect and that game kicks ass.

I'm in the same boat. I got really excited about the pre-release hype, then just didn't have the cash to blow when it came out. I bought it for my brother for Christmas instead, who was REALLY into BG, BG2:SOA and BG2:TOB back in the day.

The few time I've watched him play it, it looks sort of dull. The voice acting that I've heard sounds really great and the reviews I've read have all been glowing, but game play just doesn't LOOK like something that would be overly interesting to me. On that note, I'm still about half way through Mass Effect and just don't have a driving desire to go back to it. Maybe Bioware RPGs just aren't my type.

HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD

I don't know how anyone could like Morrigan after what she did at the end of the game. Seriously, what a self centered SOB. I guess I can't blame her considering it was Flemeth's plan all along but she totally uses you for her own ends.

HUGE SPOILERS END

Definitely not the best game I played. I enjoyed the game and it last a long time (nearly 70 hours) but it is not a game I enjoy playing over and over. Quite frankly once you know the story that's it; the actual mechanics (gaming part) is rather poor at best; but it is a GREAT interactive story.

LoL.
I didn't choose to have the baby, I "manned" up and chose to be the one to finish off the archdemon. Although I'm pissed off at myself for teching Morrigan up with special amulets, rings, and weapons to protect her throughout the game. What a sap I am. LOL

I cannot stand Morrigan, of all the three Origins I've played I asked her to leave the party permanently, she strangely reminds me of Vegeta from the DBZ series, she keeps complaining left and right whenever I feel like helping people that ultimately will in a direct or indirect way help against the cause and the very goal of the game, to fight the Darkspawn, but she's too selfish and obsessed with her "mother"'s laws of survival of the fittest that she completely forgets anything that occurs around her little bubble.

I just couldn't keep her in my party for that reason, and Sten is very close to that as well, and that proves to me how well BioWare made the game and crafted the characters and how good the voice actors are, it's exactly because those characters are so well made that I could "react" to those virtual behaviors just as I would probably done in real life, it's paradoxical to some extent, but it explains why I was so immersed in Dragon Age.

I kinda tried to get her and Alistair to hook up at the end, but in the end she left and I took on the demon myself.

I think what makes Dragon Age worth it is the overall emotional connection. If you just it on its core components, such as graphics and gameplay, it isn't the strongest game out there, but once you been sucked into the story and great soundtrack, its easy to forget about the other stuff. Although many aspects of the lore are obviously borrowed from various places, it is exceptional in its own right. Everything just feels right. It doesn't feel contrived like many games. Anyways, hope everyone that has even a small interest gives it a go.

Curse,

If you're thinking of buying the game you might want to just wait for a Gold edition that will likely have the expansion added onto it.

I have to say they have done a pretty decent job making the characters have good back stories and I do love the way the npcs interact with each other. I does hit the right buttons to make you rally feel with the toons. You either love em hate em or just feel annoyed by them.

Sorry, having too much fun with Red Faction Guerilla and Assassin's Creed II to get back to Dragon Age. I enjoyed it and all, but it was a little slow paced for my liking, so far. I'm sure I'll get back to it eventually.

Dragon Age is a great game and one of the best squad based RPGs to date. This is a result of the steady improvements in graphics, interface design, cutscenes and voice work since some of the classics like BG and Planescape: Torment. How you view this issue is a reflection of how you prioritize story, gameplay, content and graphics against each other, not to mention personal taste.

I'd rate Dragon Age a solid 10/10 but wouldn't want to try ranking it against completely different games like an Uncharted 2 or Unreal Tournament.

good game, but i completely agree with lothar on this. baldur's gate, fallout, and planescape are all much better games and just a few of the many i'd rate ahead of dragon age.

Make sure you leave out Fallout 3 though. What an abomination of an RPG/game in general.

i agree.

Dragons age is a great game. but nowhere near the best ever. i would rank Baldur's gate, NWN and maybe Oblivion (the ability to download content, mods etc FREE makes it great) above it.

But it was well worth the $50
