Hey IamDavid, did you guys loose power up your way last night? Down here around North Liberty, we lost power about 6 times starting at around 4:00 PM and still going in and out after we went to bed at midnight. On time, around 8:00 PM, it was down for almost 2 hours :(

My guess is that the lines were still covered from ice, contracted due to the cold, and then snapped when the 50MPH winds started slamming into them.

They went out on my around 6:00 PM for about 2 minutes. I had to pick up the other half from work at Iowa City around 7:00, I stopped by Walmart on the way home and picked up a couple flashlights and some candles. Good thing too. About 20 minutes after we got home, power was down for about 2 hours. Thank goodness we have a gas fireplace in the living room that we could huddle around :)

In the 60s right now (8:30 AM PST). Expecting near 80 degrees today in Southern California.

I had to work outdoors when I lived in Colorado one Winter - never again.

Actually, I think even S. Cali is cold; I really miss Hawaiian Winters.

Bundle up and take care of yourself, IamDavid. Don't take those temperatures lightly, cuz your likely to lose appendiges in a matter of minutes.

The beach . . . I went surfing Friday in La Jolla (San Diego). Water's cold 58-59*F. Glad of my fullsuit. No crowd (no one knew the swell would be overhead) and great waves.

I still miss Hawaii where the water temperature almost never drops below 70*F.

By the way, it's warm outside. Gotta go.
