my wife said last week she wanted to mow again

i was like, "no way, it isn't that long and let it be until spring"
 
I lived in Michigan for a couple of years back in late 80s. I don't remember snow being all that prevalent at the start of November.
 
When I was a kid it used to snow a couple times (<1 inch) before Halloween, and then everything would get put away and set for the winter. By the end of November there would be a couple feet of snow, just in time for the gun deer season.

Why would you mow your grass now anyway? Is there some advantage to chopping it really short after the first couple frosts but before it gets super cold?

Yerp. S'what I do especially since the trees aren't finished dropping leaves.

I'm in Ohio, and I can remember two occasions where Trick-or-treating was pushed back a couple of days because of snow. Mid-west weather is weird man, weird.
 
I'm in WI. I'll probably have to get in one more mowing before I put the mower away for the season. But if I don't get around to it, I'm sure it will be fine.
 
No sign of snow here in TN. Just not cold enough yet I suppose. I could stand to mow my yard one more time but I just don't want to. 😀
 
I live in the Nevada and we already got snow twice. First time was about an inch then we got 8 inches. Now it is 73 degrees outside and I live a 6,250 feet.
