It's not Start --> Run

It's also CTRL+SHIFT+ESC, not CTRL+ALT+DEL then click on Task Manager (or pressing T).

edit: And, I find ALT+SPACE and then C much faster than ALT+F4
 
also i recommend a program called "hoekey" for easy customisable WIN+__ hotkeys for common applications (WIN+N notepad WIN+C calc win+x firexox etc)

I have a keyboard like that on my [yet in progress of being set up] server and it gets really irritating, especially since I use WIN+R so much.

Goosemaster: I should've mentioned WIN+L. I use it tons of times, and I love it.



Also, don't forget the Winamp Hotkeys. It's wicked!

All of the following are a combination of Ctrl+Alt+[letter below]:

Insert = Play
Home = Pause
End = Stop
Pg Up = Previous in playlist
Pg Dn = Next in playlist
Up arrow = Volume up
Dn arrow = Volume down
Right Arrow = Forward [by 5 secs is default]
Left Arrow = Rewind [by 5 secs is default]
L = Open file dialog
J = Jump to box [though I've never used it]

You have to enable it in Winamp in the Preferences > Global Hotkeys.

Do you work tech support? I do... good luck telling someone to hit their start button or windows key.... they wont get it... more pain than it is worth

It's a little known fact that Win + Break is actually Win + Pause. Try it on a laptop with seperate Break and Pause keys.
 
can you tell me the shortcut key to turn the narrator on/off? i accidentally hit the windows key combo the other day and its driving me crazy!!!!

Since it's my beloved IBM Model M i'm very happy as it is 😉 A nice bonus is that i get properly sized keys on the bottom row, and i don't mind a few extra clicks of the mouse, i'm never in THAT much of a hurry 😉

QFTFT!

I've had to resort to "click on the green button at the bottom left" as well before. apparently, the person somehow missed the giant white letters that spell out "start."
