it's not proper to take a 5 year old girl into the liquor store is it?

What? I went into the liquor store with my mom when I was little. I don't see any problem whatsoever, it's not like my mom was buying booze for me.

the signs say no one under 21 is allowed.

It's probably not a big deal if they're that young and/or with a parent... they know the kid isn't going to try to buy liquor, and plus, they're supervised so it's just whatever.

Better keep your kids out of Publix or any other supermarket then.

In fact, lock them in a room until they turn 21.

Unless you live somewhere like I do, where the liquor stores are state-owned and it's illegal to sell alcohol in a supermarket or convenience store.

PA sucks. NJ is not great with alcohol, but PA sucks.

And bathrooms also say men/women, but for a child it's almost a universal understanding that they can go with the parent.

In other words: Don't be ridiculous.

I went into liquor stores with my father when I was a child and I bring my children in with me when I need to buy something. I'm not sure I see the issue here.

I doubt it's legal in most places, but they don't seem to care unless you're trying to pass for 21.

Was she trying to pass for 21?

Why would it be illegal to enter a liquor store under the age of 21? If I remember, all the signs in a liquor state you need to be 21 to purchase liquor? And the only time you're carded is when purchasing.

I'm fairly certain it is in PA... I remember during that hellish year of college when I was 20 but all my friends were 21, I had to wait right next to the door while my friends bought liquor for me.

They ID'd you as you entered the store?

Mmmm... Fritos...

Fire up the grill. Let's throw down on some Fritos.

Not at all. I didn't realize little kids would be ruined if they saw alcohol...

As a single dad I don't exactly have the choice of not bringing my kid with me if I need to go to the liquor store. There is nothing immoral or wrong about taking a kid with you into a place that sells alcohol.

Dude, that's because they would card everyone in the group, not because you couldn't be in there. Works that way in most college towns, your underage friends cant go to the register with you, otherwise if they get carded they won't sell to any of you. They're just trying to prevent obvious cases of buying alcohol for minors :)

When I was that age, I doubt I really had a good grasp on what liquor was, so it wouldn't have made a huge difference to me.

Now if he was taking her somewhere to buy illegal something-or-others, I would be a bit concerned. I think she'll be fine though.

Not sure about Georgia, but the Alcohol Beverage Control stores here in NC have signs posted about minimum ages to enter.

Just keep it under control this time.

They sell liquor at the supermarket here in California. I don't see the big deal quite honestly.

Yeah... it doesn't really make much sense. I wasn't aware there were other states that didn't allow it to be sold in supermarkets other than here though. It's such a stupid law.

Yeah, I flew to Michigan a bunch of years ago for the funeral of my Grandmother and I arrived on a Sunday but was surprised that you cannot buy beer on Sunday. God I hate Michigan...

Yes you can. Just not before 12 pm due to the religious nuts.
