i don't think they are leaking them on purpose, its just gotten to be a bigger deal that it was in previous years (black friday that it.)
The sales i have seen (Kmart and the others have not seemed that great to me.

Lots of retailers do that. Ratshack always had "deals" that required mad amounts of rebates, it was horrible.
