Couldn't find the article but GMA was reporting that this line was due to a 'staffing snafu'. Good to know the TSA has no clue about what days are busy travel days

http://www.cnn.com/2014/11/30/travel/thanksgiving-travel-home/index.html

I almost connected through Midway but ended up going through Baltimore instead. And to think I was regretting that decision. Even still in Baltimore they had only 6 total lanes for 4 concourses! I've seen more open on a regular Sunday let alone the busiest fucking travel day of the year. No TSA pre-check open - well not for the first 30 minutes of waiting. Then they closed 2 lanes for about 15 minutes to setup a pre-check lane(making progress even slower). They then diverted everyone at the back of the line into the pre-check line regardless of pre-check status. So us schmucks just past the arbitrary cutoff point were stuck and not allowed in even after the pre-check line emptied.

Thank god we have such a well organized government department to protect us from liquids over 3 ounces.

You should thank the TSA. You could have been blowed up by some rabid Christin fanatics.

Yeah, blowed up.:colbert:

People actually fly Southwest?

Well - they're still the largest domestic carrier by 13 million passengers so far and increasing their lead so....yes

http://www.rita.dot.gov/bts/press_releases/bts052_14

Besides its hard not to when I can get all my tickets B1G1 free even when using points and they have the best award availability during peak travel days

As well you should be. Them mooslimbs aren't to be trifled with either.

mooslimbs? Are they followers of another author?

Fly cheap, shitty airlines and get cheap, shitty service.

 Why are you talking about United? :p

Southwest is commonly ranked higher than its major compeditors United, AA, US and often Delta in customer satisfaction\service rankings. JetBlue Virgin and Alaskan often rank higher although they have far fewer passengers

Now winter on time ratings are a different story.

I've flown Southwest before and I loved it. The staff was super friendly, we joked around the whole trip. On my return trip I ended up having the same crew and we had a blast again. I would fly Southwest again in a heartbeat.

Do you ever have anything positive/meaningful to add or do you get some kind of sick satisfaction out of trolling everyone on ATOT?

Are you trying to imply that Southwest isn't viewed as a bargain airline? And, said airline flies to a bunch of smaller airports exclusively? Are we to expect someone who is able to offer reduced fairs to offer an experience of that to the 'big boys'?

Yep. Best just to put it on ignore and not feed it. Usually just craps a thread and leaves, unless enough people respond to the crap.

Sometimes when I'm having a tough day at work, I like to poke the bear. Today is one of those days.

The TSA must have hired someone with Big Oil scheduling experience. They are always caught off-guard whenever a holiday happens.

Its one thing to complain about delays and crowds due to the holidays and\or weather which is to be expected and quite another to complain about delays due to insufficient staffing by the TSA. Its not like this day is a surprise. Having fewer lines open on the busiest day of the year than a regular Sunday? Come on...

MDW can get really backed up at security since it's just one big checkpoint. If enough lanes aren't open at one you don't have two or three other ones to choose from. I've seen it stack up through the terminal into the parking garage before.
