I bought my Dell 1905FP a few weeks ago for $299 + tax.
For the price you can't beat it. The 1905FP uses the same LCD panel as the Samsung 193P which has also been highly rated.
I recommend it.

Same two I have on my short list. Might I also add the following:

I had read where Samsung was issuing a 0 stuck pixel policy which would a very nice guarantee of a totally clean image. I have about two months until I'm buying, hoping to stay around $300+ for a nice 12ms or lower LCD.

but i forgot to use the 2% DPA stckable. could have had it for $5 less :)

Uh...thanks??

So Chosonman, no ghosting issues with that screen? What games have you played and with what system?

I can spend up to $400, no more, though.

Do not buy the 1905fp is you intend to play games. I have one, and it is beautiful for static images, but moving images blur like crazy. I don't even play games, but I get blurring and color shifting even when simply scrolling a document or web page. It bothered me enough that I bought the 2005fpw instead. The response time of the 2005fpw is fantastic, I don't see any blurring. Overall though, given static images, I prefer the 1905fp. It seems that there is no "perfect" LCD monitor. You have to pick your tradeoffs and accept some compromises.

There are other 19" LCD users out here. I currently use the new Samsung 930B. I play a lot of FPS games. Mostly RTCW, Doom 3, and Half-Life 2. Really liking this monitor for these games. Not seeing any ghosting, blurriness, etc. I have posted a large review on this forum as this question has come up many times before. If you are interested do a search on 930B and you will find it. Hope you like whatever you end up getting. Keep us posted!

This is for "bcoupland". I have been looking at both the Samsung 930b and NEC 1970GX but have found no reviews on either monitor. Where did you find these great reviews? Please let me know. I saw the nec's little brother at the store (1770gx) and was quite impressed. It was sitting next to a Samsung 712n and the image and build quality seemed much better. The colours were vibrant and the text sharp. The only annoying point was the reflection off the screen as it doesn't have an anti-glare coating, but that was in the store under full fluorescent lighting. As of now I am leaning towards the NEC but would like to read some professional reviews before purchasing. Any comments?

That monitor is looking nice. DVI, 8 ms response time, 300 nits brightness. It is $446.49 at BB's website, which amazingly seems to beat most of the prices on the web. IF it's at my local B&M BB, and IF it's not too much more than that in the store, I may be able to get a good deal on it with my discount and $55 in gift cards. Is there anything you don't like about it at all?

Well I did finally find two reviews on the NEC 1970gx. Both listed here:

Neither one was a glaring review when compaired to the others, although they said if you are going to use it mostly for gaming (like what other use is there?) it can't be beat. I have heard nothing but good things about the Hyundai L90D+ so I might start thinking about that one. By the way, the first link also reviewed the Hyundia and gave it a 9/10 versus the 7.5/10 for the NEC. The Hyundai uses the Samsung 8ms panel. Yet to see a review on the Samsung 930B.

Philips is out, I really want DVI.

NEC is out, too. No way I'm spending over $500 when it's obviously far from necessary to spend that much to get a good one.

The Hyundai, perhaps, or the Samsung 930B. Maybe a BenQ offering?

thanks for the review links maddogatc. Yeah, that Hyundai sure looks like the one I'd choose if I were to buy one right now. But unfortunately it's not available here in Canada yet (at least not at Staples and Futureshop which is where I have to buy from since I have 20% gift cards and in case I have to exchange due to dead pixels).

The Samsung 930B is available at Staples and Futureshop right now. Which is a good thing, but the only thing I don't like about Samsung is that they always look so plain and don't have the adjustable height. At this point, it's still a choice between the BenQ FP937, NEC 1970GX, and the Samsung 930B for me. the BenQ costs less than the others for $450 CDN after rebate at Staples. But I don't like the silver colour and the non-adjustable height. Right now I'm using a an ugly monitor stand for my 17" and so I'm hoping to get rid of the stand all together.

The 930B really does look like an excellent monitor, and Best Buy has it for $469.99. However, MINUS my employee discount, PLUS tax, MINUS $55 in gift cards, MINUS a whopping $70 rebate check from Samsung, brings the total cost to about $313, $383 upfront before the rebate. Awesome deal? Should I definitely just go with that?

But the Hyundai L90D+ is available in Canada if you are in the Toronto area. tigerdirect.ca sells it for $472 and ICCT Computers for $468. Tiger Direct has an outlet in Markam (near Buttonville airport) and will apparently exchange the product if it has dead pixils (not confirmed) ICCT computers has various stores in the GTA just do a search for their website. Just found another Canadian site: Monitor Depot located in Richmond Hill. It also has the Hyundai for $488 Canadian. Sure beats the Samsung at Future Shop, Best Buy and Staples for $599. Tiger Direct is quite abit out of my way but if they have a good return policy I may just drive there and get the Hyundai.

I still need to know if you guys think the 930B for $384 beats all other deals or not. I haven't seen one bad thing about that Samsung yet. Would the Hyundai or any other beat it (consider price)?

The Hyundai has quality issues but it's the same panel, but if you can get teh 930B for that much go for it.

I was going to get the Hyundai but then I saw the new VP191B with 8ms on a PVA panel which gives better colors, and for 50$ more for better quality than the L90D+ and almost the same price as the 930B I think I'll go with the Viewsonic

But that Samsung is only about $384 for me. NECs are more expensive. So if nothing really beats that Samsung FOR $400 OR UNDER, I think I'll go with it. Right now they're running an $80 rebate at BB, but I'm not ready to buy yet.
