ATi has decided to just skip R600 since at this point it'll be released only a very short time before NVidia announces its G80 refresh line-up that will be out in June/July timeframe (less than 3 months away). You are welcome.

Latest word from ATi: Our fabrication plant's mascot is a dog. That dog ate our R600 demo wafer. We are waiting for new fab to take place. You are welcome.

On a serious note...

Why the Hell AMD/ATI is holding up the things... i dont see anything to hide from their side...

AMD/ATI has more to loose than gain from delaying the things even further. assuming that the HD 2900XT fares pretty badly against 8800 GTX, they can still make money competing against nVidia 8800GTS right??

i will be very much willing to buy HD 2900XT as against 8800GTS given if i have choice to do so..

why cant they come up with some info on the delay front just to settle the nerves amongst enthusiast or for that matter general public??

hehe, you guys caught the drift...
Sorry to scare some of you LOL

But yeah, if you really want 8800 discounts, wait 6 months for Nvidia's new line of Geforce 10,800's (they are adding a digit, skipping the nines). ;)

You are welcome.

I heard they are coming out with a 9700GTO to spite ATi's 9700Pro heyday. It's going to be a champion like the 9700Pro was for ATi. It'll have 1GB of GDDR4 at 2.0GHz, 1024-bit bus, and 512 TMUs and stream processors. It's on a 45nm die. Release date is slated for September at an MSRP of $750. You are welcome.

I'm guessing the NDA ends at 12:00AM EST?

That means I have to wait another 8 hours and 15 minutes?

reminds me of 3dfx with voodoo5. late, delayed, held bacK, almost recalled..................
they could have made the voodoo4 first, but no keep playing around withthe voodoo5 5500 and V5 6000.

the voodoo4 4500 could have put something better than the voodoo3 on the market till the 5500 came out

then the 6000 was still born, didn't really work right, motherboard issues and other things

then all the complaining about a power connector, now there on almost every card

there was a voodoo5 5000 too...a rare card

Dude, ATi is cheating on Intel with AMD. nVidia is homosexual but hasn't told anyone yet.

You are welcome.
