Most drugs aren't intrinsically bad, but addiction is a killer and a destroyer of people and the families that stand by helplessly while their loved ones circle the drain of existence.

Expressing a totally unrelated sentiment, can we put the every single person in the Sackler family who made money on other people's abject misery in federal PMITA jail for a very long time while also recovering every single cent, plus interest, that these heartless ghouls made on their gambit?
 
Shoot. You're talking about drug overdoses. I've got zero experience there, but I was completely ready to sacrifice my body in order to overdose on Häagen-Dazs or Ghirardelli chocolate or homemade lemon meringue pie. Sigh.
 
It's going to take a while to treat addiction as a disease instead of a moral failing, but I'm glad we're making progress on that front nonetheless
 
I know families who have adopted children thanks to the business strategies and success of the Sacklers, so I wish that collection of horrible people nothing but the most severe comeuppance possible. Their cold indifference to what they've left in their wake, the attempt to buy their way out, ugh. Trump level shitbaggery there, and with a similar body count to the covid disaster too. May karma one day show at their door, the Dildo of Consequences in hand like an icepick (and of course, quite dry).


Fwiw, Narcan nasal spray is under $50 and has a shelf life of 4 years. You don't have to have addiction issues and a shady supplier with how potent fentanyl is. You could just be unlucky, unknowingly touch a surface with fentanyl residue on it. Then a minute or two later you are on your ass and dizzily about to spiral away into the black nothing. If you live in areas affected by the opoid epidemic it's cheap insurance for you and others.

One of my good high school friends died a handful of years back from a fentanyl overdose before any of us turned 30. Really bad luck to be cursed with the wrong neurochemistry supporting both addictive habits and depression :/
 
As far as I am concerned our whole society is responsible for Fentanyl addiction and families like the Sacklers. Our economic system and our form of government can't stop the manifestation of greed based need from creating monsters like them. Just the opposite, it facilitates their evolution to stages well past where tremendous and irreparable damage has been done. Bucking the system will make you an outcast and we all have Stockholm syndrome. There are, in my opinion, few exceptions. This accounts, also, in my opinion, why we fix the cause of the problem elsewhere than it belongs. People don't like to face the fact we are cowards. I doubt that even imminent extinction caused by the refusal to care for the world will awaken us. Too bad the truth about our self hate isn't popularly known. Who, me? Impossible.................... It's all OK if we walk backward over the cliff.

Slowly grinding the Sacklers into hamburger will change nothing.

Confirmed, which irked me as my source on that was indeed a police officer. I just txted him and asked him wtf. The gist of what I just got was the person he was responding to had actually touched then tasted it. Guess I missed that part. My bad, but still keeping Narcan with me.

Yet, just like alcohol addiction, that’s exactly what it is…a moral failing.

They’ve been pushing the narcan kits here. (WA has had bad heroin/opioid problems for at least 50 years)
I suppose if I had a close family member who struggled with opioid addiction, I might spend the money to keep a couple of narcan kits availble, but since I don’t…Nope. Just don’t care if junkies OD.
