Honestly. A repeat in NCAA ball does not happen often.

i have a sense a new rivalry has been born...to have both the football and basketball titles at the same time is just mindblowing. but then compound that with beathing ohio st. in both those title games, and not just winning but dominating each game, has just gotta be embarassing for ohio state students and alumni. too bad the sec and big 10 dont play more games each year.

Yeah, but what are you going to do when you have to get a real job? 😛

Getting to watch a winning sports team and having hot classmates doesn't pay the bills, after all...

I know, but coherent english from a college student would be nice.

Florida is the new USC. They're going to be the target next fall. They don't have a repeat in football, but the basketball wins have the same effect. Every week is going to be about beating them.

What the hell? What kind of school do you go to?

Right now a Florida grad is probably more employable on a national basis than any school outside the Ivy League. No one else can match the coast to coast recognition these championships bring.

Kevin Durant won the Naismith Trophy this year and he makes everyone in that post-game interview look like a Rhodes Scholar. Who cares?

UF alum, '02 & '05

I don't think UF has anything to prove next year. Most of their starting five will be gone to the draft. It was just fortunate that the Gators had a team with such depth of talent for two years in a row. I would not expect them to be serious contenders next year, but I enjoyed the run they had.

My UF poly-sci degree helped me land a well-paying job at an engineering firm. That's right.. poly-sci degree, engineering job.. Though, I AM capable of actually doing the job - and that always helps.

I'm liking my decision to go to UF pretty darn well right now.

 Yeah, companies hire based on national championships.

People hire on recognition. Everyone knows Harvard, Stanford, Duke, etc. But right now a Florida grad is more likely to get hired in California than a UC San Diego grad in Vermont. I had heard of San Diego, but had no idea they were highly ranked until I looked it up just now in USNews because I live on the East Coast. Now I'm no HR person, but I've been responsible for a couple hires and I stand by my statement.

My wife hires people for a living and she told me that as long as it doesn't say "Hollywood Upstairs Medical College", that it almost doesn't matter. The difference between Florida and Arizona / Texas / Montana / etc means zero to her.

Not everyone cares about or follows sports.

More people follow sports than don't care where a college degree came from. Gotta sort through the applicants on something, especially if they don't have the experience.

This is my last post before the thread gets more derailed.

Having a sports championship doesn't mean anything for the applicant unless they're one of the athletes. At least with prestigous univecrsities you can argue that the name means something since the student is competing w/ higher caliber students in general.
