It's Great! It's an IBM! But can I do anything with it?

This seems like a great addition to my network, but can I use it...?

I have Win2k Advanced Server setup and have Terminal Services enabled to use it remotely(administration for a website etc) Could I use this machine in the same way?

I checked IBM, and they have a version of Turbo Linux.....so...will it work like in my dreams?

P.S. I know I already posted this somewhere else..but I have faith that the network guru's here know something I don't 😉

Thanks..THat was basically the same thing I found..YOurs was more descriptive however.

However, what about preformance? Is it worth it?

It would appear that it supports ICA, the Citrix protocol, not RDP, the Windows Terminal Server protocol, making it mandatory to add Metaframe on top of your terminal server to make it function properly - A very, very expensive option.

Probably, the best way to use this device would be to setup a Linux box somewhere in your house, and you can put this anywhere on your network. Using XWindows, you can run Netscape, etc. back on your Linux box and display it on the thin client.

Performance? Probably around a 486/66, if I had to guess.

Yea..I thought there was a way around Citrx, but the speed will be too slow....thanks for thte responses..

I knew it was too good to be true:|:|

As far as performance, isn't this the usual framebuffer-on-a-cat5-cable style thing? Something like a sunray or what not? If it's that, then the performance would be approximately that of your server minus a little net lag, and whatever overhead is going on on the server... If I'm correct, it looks like a good linux terminal, if you're into that type of thing 😉
