I'd substitute an electric razor for the straight, although that's because I have an old one lying around.
 
I use one of those mustache trimming kits from walgreens. It's just a little comb and a pair of scissors, but it works great. I wouldn't want to put a razor anywhere near the bits and pieces.
 
I've found yelling at the area very loudly (with conviction) gets the job done.

Shout like you mean it or it won't work
