Good job kid! Now, log off for few hours/days/weeks/months and go play with your new toy. Come back sometimes ooohhhh... next year, and tell us how you like it so far ;)

Very cool. What are the specs? What the heck kind of motherboard is that? And what's the extra layer of metal inside the can that the motherboard is screwed to? And how much did that cost you? :)

mini-itx EPIA-5000 mobo

currently 64mb of ram (one of the sticks died... gotta RMA)

4.2 gig hard drive, bought 8 years ago for a princely sum of 279 dollars, and subsequently never used (the computer it was bought for couldnt read it. not new enough bios. and my father was too afraid to flash the bios. so it just sat.)

all in all, so far, it's costed me about 180 bucks (including palm). that sum will go up to about 220 when i buy the inverter and the heavy guage wire for wiring it.

and that extra bit of metal is sheet aluminum. it's tougher than it looks :p

Ah... how do you plan to pull this off? Are you writing software youself? Or is this a common thing that someone has already written software for? :)

hah, it took me 20 tries to pull off a successful while loop, i wouldnt have a chance at writing this kind of software.

there's a software pack for linux called giantdisc. www.giantdisc.com. it allows you to control your computer's mp3 playing via a palm pda, with the palmOS 2.0 or better. (palmV is like 3.5 or something.) :)

Here's a question... how do you get the Mp3s on it? Put it on your network and attach a mouse/keyboard/monitor?
