wtf is a pind?

Connect directly to the modem, power cycle the modem, release/renew the IP, write down your Default Gateway IP from your IP configuration, then ping it continuously.

ping x.x.x.x -t

Let it run for about a minute, then hit "Control C" to stop it. If you have ANY packet loss AT ALL (even ONE), or if you have latency over 100ms, then call Comcast and tell them this. This is the *only* reason they will investigate a speed issue.

they are coming out tomorow. I tried that already. Still 25% packet loss.

WTF..just to mess around I tried updating my podcasts..they are updating @ 7Mbps....and yet every webpage takes like a minute to load if it doesn't manage to timeout..LOL

Nice. 🙂

You can't expect them to be perfect 100% of the time. They're going to fix the problem; just be patient and let them. 🙂

That's odd because a little birdy who happened to run a big-ass RDC in Salem Oregon for Comcast once told me that cable modem's don't choak bandwidth (kick in the speed caps) if something simple like a webpage is being loaded. It only kicks in if pictures, video, and other files come through. That's really odd.

Not exactly what I meant. Uploading data just chokes the modem, whatever it is.
