So basically this LCD is no good for any gaming????? if so that sucks, looks like a hell of a deal
Don't base everything on 2 internet posters opinions... try it for yourself. Anandtech gave it great ratings for gaming, and every review including this monitor I have seen says it operates extremely well in gaming environments.
YMMV - the vast majority I have read say it's great for gaming. I will throw my own 2 cents in in 2 days when my two get here!
I stand by my observations 100% as well. I actually got mine from the Christmas Dellf promotion - if I had paid money for it then it would have gone back to dell long ago. So, unless they're using different panels in this display I'd never listen again to a reviewer that said this lcd has acceptable ghosting levels in fast motion games/video. As far as I can remember, the 1800FP that a friend has is much better than the 1905FP, and the Planar 17" I got for my sister was perfectly playable with UT. With the 1905 I switch to my CRT for gaming.Originally posted by: tren001

YMMV indeed. LCD ghosting does seem to vary a lot person by person. But I stand by my assertion that the 1905 is no good for fast paced gaming. I know the Anadtech review gave it good gaming rating, it's why I bought the 1905 in the first place, and while it is gorgeous for slower paced games (driving, RTS, etc), it gets overwhelmed by first person shooters. What convinced me was using the 1905 side by side with the crappy 173P analog panel that came with my Dell PC, on clone mode, the 173P was far superior in games like Doom3, Jedi Knight, Half Life etc.
On the other hand, if you can stand the 1905's speed on gaming, it has certain advantages over the 2005. I'm no expert on LCD panels, but it seems like slower panels like the 1905 have slightly better color quality, and noticeably better viewing angles than the faster panels on the 2005. I remember my 1905 seemingly had infinite viewing angles, while my new 2005 has this purplish sheen if you look at it from a far side angle.
But still, wide screen rulez!! Get a 2005 if you can afford it!

I can't add any $60 off coupons. Is that because they're all used up? It basically doesn't do anything. I got the 30% off one though.

according to the thread over at FW... the $60 coupon is dead
not much you can change with DVI. goes stright from fram buffer to LCD. played similar game on the 37in LCD I have, and that is not as bad as the dell, the HDTV does have a 16ms panel from LG.Originally posted by: SPD2171
weird, i wonder what the setttings are that effect this?
I received my 2 today, and played 5 hours of CS:S without a notice of any "ghosting". I am coming from a 21 inch CRT, so I anticipated having a real hard time adjusting to LCDs.
Not sure if it is a setting with video drivers, the monitor, or my 30 year old eyes - guess I am lucky I can't see it cause I sure would hate to send these things back.

Well I got mine today and did a Half Life 2 test and didn't see any noticeable ghosting that everyone is so up in arms about, some even returning it because its to much to deal with. I just do not see it at all. I have it running at 1024x786 full rez all settings up and don't have an issue, maybe its a video card with this LCD combo issue?
Well at any rate, heres a pic of my setup. Not dial up friendly.
