wow, was that a waste of time. i just got back from SD show...they were giving away XP 2100+ CPUs, no motherboard, no memory. THe best thing was the Battle of Boxes, they randomly chose 10 people, who competed for 2 spots, and the winner got $2500!!! Too bad the other chump's computer wouldn't boot so the other kid (and i mean kid, guy looked 12) won by default!

Plenty of ugly tshirts and hats for ya tho ;-) Last years was much better (prolly cuz i won)

2100+????? You've gotta be kidding me!?!?!? Man, I got an 1800 last year, and the 1900s were out by then. What kinda junk is that? I was (probably still will) go to ATL, but now, I'm just prayin for a shot at the build a rig competition. Can you guys kinda give details as to how it went, just so I know what to expect? How'd they draw for prizes? Howd they draw for the build-off? What kind of questions did they ask the contestants?

Thanks.

D.C.

yes it sucked. oh wait, not the food, it was good.

here's a tip for you: go early to gobble up the buffet and soda, then put all your tickets (total of 3) in ONE box (they had 3 boxes), stand in middle of crowd, not front not back.

all i got was a hat. 3 events: shirt, mug, tshirt. a pattern is developing. oh well, i'm happy with the 2200+ i have at home already. feel sorry for the other guy in the Battle... but to be honest some of those people answering questions know nothing about computers. how many of the 5 didn't know the storage capacity of a 3.5" floppy? 3-4? sheesh. oh well... i'll be at city of industry in december.
btw: i was the guy in the yellow hat/sweatshirt.

Can someone provides more details about last night event?
- How was the crowd?
- How many people went?
- Do you need to register to get-in or everyone can get-in?
- How many processors they're giving out from the raffle or it's different this time?
- What kind of food and drinks they're serving? (hehe)

Thanks!

I guess the yields are still so bad on the 2400+s that they can't afford to give any away....bummer.

well... it was of course crowded towards the stage. weren't as many people as the event in san diego last year... maybe few hundred? i'm lousy at countring crowds. i registered online, but they had tables for you to sign up. i think it was... 30 processors from raffle? oh yes, the food: coffee, irish creme syrup, whip cream, sugar, cinnamon, chocolate flakes. roast beef sandwiches, cheeses, some kinda meat on skewers, veggie wraps, i think i saw baguettes, soda, waters.

Hey hey hey, now! We had quite a turnout last year, freezing our @sses off. Don't really know why they held it in the Altamonte Mall parking lot, but whatever, I got a mobo and CPU out of it. Don't get them thinking that there are better places to hold this in Florida!! :)

I will be at City Of Industry LA. Registered 10/22. By Dec 10 maybe they will have some 2400+ to give away. :) It would be cool to have some way to show that we are AnandTechies so we could say wahzaaaaaaaaaaup!! :)
