It's a shame that I have to find work overseas.

Pay overseas in those types of jobs is a lot higher, based on cost of living and provided housing... However, the living conditions are typically a little lower...maybe not in amenities, but often in security concerns or government corruption type stuff.

Have you looked in the middle east or thailand? I have a few friends that did that for many years working for the oil companies in American schools. They lived in fenced-in compounds with guard shacks, etc... They ended up making bank in the long run because they essentially lived free over there for 30 years and invested 70% of their pay in the stock market.

I have been teaching in South Korea for 2 years now and it has been an amazing experience. The cultural experience alone has transformed my life. Also, I've been able to save money, and this is something that I haven't been able to do in America.

My contract is coming to an end and I have to make a decision. Do I go to America and join the unemployed, or should I go teach in China? If I were to take a teaching position in China this is what I could expect:

-$47,000 to start
-yearly bonus and raise
-a new apartment FREE
-fully furnished FREE
-3 months paid vacation

This decade is going to be about adapting. Times are changing. You either adapt and move forward or you get left behind. In my case I had to get out of America. It's a shame that I had to leave the country to find a good and decent job. It's also a shame that my taxes are going to a country that we may have to fight 50 years from now.

I still would like to someday come back to America.

I would choose China.
