Oh I bought worldcom at 20 bucks a share. I rode it up to 60 or 70 then rode the crash down.

I sold a long time ago, but lost out pretty big.

I'm so pissed by this news. I was gonna buy one of their bonds when it was down to $180. grrr... its up to $250 now.

You ain't kidding!

as i have mentioned in previous stock threads... i was buying this stock in large quantity. my family has been as well. needless to say we own quit a chunk of stock in worldcom 🙂 personally i have now 20K shares, average purchase price of 8.75 cents/share. 🙂

My parents... i dunno... they went crazy with it. I'd imagine they have 10 times what i have ahahhaha

But it's a long term bet. I'm not planning on selling out anytime soon. And this isn't for everyone. If you can't bear to lose that money, don't do it. This is a long term investment.

exactly, as much as i would like to cash in on my nearly 100% roi, i know it's only going to up 🙂

i only have 700 shares 🙁

I also have about 5000 shares@0.15 a share. Watching it close.

Did you guys not see the announcement about a month ago where WorldCom said that the current stock would probably be worthless after Chapter 11 was complete because the new creditors would want new stock issued to cover their loans?

uh.... that would suck? but wouldn't we get more stock out of it? i mean, when you buy a share, you're buying 1/total number of shares stake in the company. so if they issue more stock, you should keep the same stake, meaning your stock splits or something, right?

if the stock splits, you have twice as many shares at half the value. You don't really lose anything

I have 800 shares at .22 ... the week after I bought it it sank to like 12 and hasn't moved out of the 10c range really .. @@

800 shares at $70 ... hah, 56k ... but I'd be delighted if it ever saw a buck ...

I don't think you guys understand. The company said that the stock that is currently issued would be worhthless and that they would probably have to reissue stock as part of the Chapter 11 proceedings. Not add more stock. Different stock.

"Based on current information and a preliminary analysis of its ability to
satisfy outstanding liabilities, WorldCom believes when the company emerges
from bankruptcy proceedings, its existing preferred stock and WorldCom group
and MCI group tracking stock issues will have no value."

yea i know... but what i want to see is if the stock splits or if our existing stock just gets devalued and we don't get jack

I want to get in on this action, where do i sign up? Seriously! I would like to own part of something. Its cheap and I wouldn't bail anytime soon.

I find it hard to really believe they will emerge from Chapter 11. If they do... I would assume they would issue new stock. I am glad I sold a long time ago. Too risky to deal with. More conservative and slow gain is what I prefer.

I don't think there's any question of them emerging from Chapter 11. They have goverment contracts and infrastructure out the ass. The stock is a different story altogether. the announcement of the new CEO yesterday and a couple of gov't contracts that got confirmed is what is nudging the stock up, I think. I knew it was high risk when I bought it and it was money I could afford to lose. It it goes up, great. If not I write it off on my taxes. K sara sara.

Bought 1000 shares at .06 strictly as a gamble.

Had a $4000 profit in Worldcon and rode it down to half that when I bailed.

Stock becoming worthless is a true worry. I also had Global Communications and it is also in chapter 11 and most of the offered deals for it screwed the stockholders (what else is new?) with no value for present stock.

Worldcom at least has a little chance.

I wanna buy Worldcom stock. How can this be done?

My Datek/Ameritrade account would never buy WCOEQ or anything. It wouldn't even give me the prices!

weird... i have ameritrade, and bought it with no trouble...

Over the counter/Graysheets. Same situation with Waterhouse, no quotes on line or trading ability but they will trade for you if you call them. Might be a solution for you.

Quotes available at Quicken.com for one. Sure there are a lot of others also.

Pinksheets/Over the counter. It is not being traded on the NASDAQ anymore.
