Classic. 😀

Doesn't surprise me. The Catholics has been idolatrous for more than a thousand years.

As a Catholic, I have only one comment: Nice ass.
(As to the "Virgin Mary sighting", I have nothing to add.)

Vic - thanks for your input. I'm sure you have hours of insightful commentary to back that up, but my patience has been diminished of late. Return to whatever fundamentalist group you belong, and tell them you struck a blow for Jesus. Or go back to your atheist club and tell them how you struck a blow for "tolerant free-thinkers." Whichever applies.

Wonder if I draw a doodle of the Virgin mary and people would count that as a "sighting" . . ..

It gets crazy, I have to admit. I remember people flocking to a bakery one time because someone saw the likeness of the Virgin Mary on a blueberry muffin. I can't believe it.

As for the picture....

I'd Hit It! 🙂

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA, Aren't people so stupid. Imagine mistaking a fence post for the Virgin Mary. What kind of idiot would do that. Imagine seeing what you're looking for. Next thing you know and you'll start imagining that Iraq is a threat to the United States. Boy am I glad I'm not seeing things that aren't there. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA The world is plum full of fools. Looky there.

i think i saw the virgin mary the other day when i was putting some CoffeeMate(TM) into my coffee. i swear! i really did. the whole office flocked to my cubicle to see and then these people starting camping out by my print, which was a problem because I had to print out some TPS reports. then they started wailing and asking the coffee to heal them.

it was really weird.

Hehe....nice. 😀

EDIT- this is seriously the dumbest "object appearing to be the Virgin Mary" sighting ever.

For more than a week devoted Sydney Catholics have been flocking to a vantage point about 300 metres (1,000 feet) from the small wooden fence which, when viewed at certain times each afternoon through squinted eyes (image on left), is believed to be a likeness of the Virgin Mary.

I mean, have a few beers, prop one of my dogs up on his hind feet, squint, and......BOOM. Virgin Mary sighting.

AHAHAHAHA. LMAO

Hey, I want to build a fence and charge lots of money for people to see it. I would be rich.. I mean, I am collecting for the poor...

My friend in college used to take 'shrooms and then see demons in the wood on his bed. Does that mean they're demons?

I apologize if I insulted your faith (or your lack of patience). I am neither fundamentalist nor atheist. I am a "free-thinker" though and my studies have given me the belief that the worship of entities other than God (i.e. saints, the Virgin) is contrary to the teachings of Jesus. Otherwise, I see nothing wrong in present-day Catholicism and I think rather highly of John Paul II (he gave a speech a few months ago in his native Poland about "The dangers and evils of believing in freedom without responsibility" - I was very impressed).

ahahahaha lookie dere at dem's fools with their faith! hayuk, hayuk! Let's ridicule there stupid faith sum more, hayuk! I hear sum of 'em dang fools believes in a 'maculate concepshun too! hayuk, hayuk!

Vic, apology accepted (if it was sincere. If not, no big deal - I wasn't really offended anyway.)

By the way, let me comment on this part:

my studies have given me the belief that the worship of entities other than God (i.e. saints, the Virgin) is contrary to the teachings of Jesus

I agree, and so does the Catholic church. Catholics pray to the saints and to Mary because we believe the saints and Mary are truly alive in heaven, and we are asking them to intercede on our behalf. This is very, very different from "worshipping" them, although that distinction is lost on most people who don't follow the same practice.

And a side note: I don't personally pray to Mary or the saints for intercession. It's just not a practice of mine (a former Protestant)...although I have prayed the Rosary a few times. And I do disagree with the Catholic church on some rather significant points of doctrine - I don't blindly accept Rome's explanation of everything that's challenged. I just don't have a problem with this particular practice, and I think most people wouldn't if they understood what was really going on.
