i work for the school district 🙂
apparently, they couldnt get the buses started this morning hence the delay.
all other districts in the county are open! LOL!

My projected low is 48F with a high of 70F. I do believe I shall have to bring a jacket to school today. The A/C always makes the classrooms very very cold.

Was not sure if it was Berkshire or the next one east.

Was stationed as a liason officer at Pittsfield, when it dropped down low in 1980-81. Three of us families at an apt complex setup a method where every 2-3 hours, one person would start up the cars for the others. This lasted for 4-5 days

The complex refused to allow block heaters to be used.

heh Pittsfield was still semi booming at that time, its gone way downhill since GE left.

Here in Ohio, I haven't temps that cold in a couple years. I remember throwing a glass of water out into the cold air and seeing it come down as snow and ice.

Bah. They never close the schools up here due to temperature, they even have it in writing. They close them once in a great while if the roads are really bad, or like the one time in high school when it was 73 below zero and the Ice Fog was so thick no one could see to drive.

What is the economic driver nowdays (if any)?

I'm freezing here.. It's 64 degrees! <brrrr>

For the life of me, I can't understand why people live in the snowbelt. I was born and raised (mostly) in western Mass, on the Berkshire mountains, and know snow, but will NEVER live north of South Carolina.. I'm happy here in Tampa..

-29C after windchill (-22C before) and it's a normal business day up here in Toronto, Canada.
