iTouch/iPhone transfer utility

Sorry if this is super repost x 1000 but I didn't find anything searching. Anyways I am looking for a utility to use my iTouch like the old iPods and be able to transfer files from the device to the computer. I see a bunch of software claiming to do this but a lot of it looks like it is written by sketchy ad-ware companies. Any suggestions? Mainly I am pissed that if you buy a song from iTunes on a device, it does not seem to sync back to iTunes so you don't have it on the computer. Suck it Steve!

iPod Touches and iPhones do not support what you're referring to as "disk mode" that the older iPods do, so in order to get files off your Touch and transfer them to another computer you will have to jailbreak your phone and download apps like iFile or Discover.

Um, I bought The Killers - Day & Age on my iPhone and it is also on my laptop, I didn't buy it twice.

What are your settings, maybe there is something you have unchecked that is preventing purchases from the iPhone from transferring over to your computer.

It does indeed sync back to iTunes. I've done it. I'd check your settings like TheStu said and see if you have something messed up there. But the songs do indeed sync purchases back to your computer.

If you need to get Txts, other general data, you can use "PhoneView", if you're on OS X.

The fact that he is saying that he sees a bunch made by sketchy adware companies makes me think he is on Windows.
