Militaries are best suited to deal with this kind of disaster. For Italy's 'disaster chief' to say otherwise is just plain ignorant. Sounds to me like he is just trying to score domestic points without actually contributing to the discussion about Haiti. It isn't like we are trying to annex the place...

Whining about others' comments doesn't answer whether or we're doing a great job by our own standards with the money and resources that we've committed.

I agree.
But Bertolaso made a mistake. He is representing the italian government in Haiti, so he ought to be more diplomatic, even when he talks with italian press.
He's not a journalist, so he's been sent there to work, not to investigate on the UN and USA.
He may be right about the lack of coordination, but he should make his complains to the UN, not to the press.

I just wonder if Bush was still in the office, how many of you would be on italy's side just in spite.

Think about the UN Oil for Food (I mean guns) program in Iraq?

No we dont need any help from the UN. Didnt they put peace keepers in Lebanon???? Is there peace in Lebanon?

The only real reason the UN is in Lebanon is to protect the Hezzies from air strikes by the Israelis.
