Italy trip recommendations

I arrive in Rome Fiumicano at 12:45 pm so by the time I get out it'll be 1:30 and by th time I reach rome, it'll be 2-2:30 pm on Christmas day.. From what I read, I think I'l get a hotel in the city centre and just walk around in the Vatican City.. Does the pope do something on Christmas day or anything special that happens on Christmas day? I suppose I wont make it for any of the tours so will only land up walking around... Will check out the hotel recommendations!
