It would seem Kabar knives are made in China.

Size DOES matter...but what would you do with a knife like that?

As for carrying it in public...that depends on your local, city, county, and/or state laws...but most likely, at the minimum, you can't carry it concealed...it would have to be worn fully exposed.

I have this one:
https://www.kabar.com/product/produ...ryId=1,2,3,7,9&categoryName=Military/Tactical
In many parts of Kahleeforneeya, it's illegal because of the blade length, regardless of whether I wear it on my hip or completely concealed...however, since I don't generally go to those places, I'm not concerned.
I've used that knife for about 12 years, and carried it to work every day for about 5 of those years...often wearing it on my hip during the day for quick access. It cut through 2 and 3 inch nylon lines very easily and smaller lines like a hot knife through butter...plus, it made a great steak knife for the barge BBQ on Fridays.

Can I keep it in my car? I want to mount it for quick access in case I get car jacked

I couldn't possibly care one bit. Seems anything that China makes kills things anyway (tooth paste, dog food), so they may as well make things INTENDED to kill people.

:D

I think they make more STUFF, as in a kajillion cheap plastic peices of junk, as compared to the USA, which makes fewer things, but worth a lot more, like a $500,000 machine
well, ya, shit made in China is alot cheaper than shit made here and if it can be made in China it will probably be cheaper than if it was made here. I dont know everything about what those Wikipedia statistics include because Im not an economist and haven't researched it enough. I do know when I go to retail stores like Homo Depot I see alot of Made in China or Mexico stickers.

Typically if the OP claims something is now made in China, I would expect some sort of link, not have to go 12 posts down.

My bad.

Sorry about the crappy pic. The flash kept whiting out the damn text. I have a light box but not the proper lighting to use it correctly. Had to send the last set back cuz it sucked ass.

And nowhere on the interwebs could I find a pic of a Kabar that said it was made in China. For some strange reason every picture shows the side of the knife without that info.

shens, your friends are goats

Actually, my goats are probably more productive than a couple of employees they have at Kabar. One guy I know spends half his day playing games (his favorite is that bejeweled blitz game on facebook. He was whining the other day that he missed most of his lunch because he was too busy that morning; but facebook shows that he was playing bejeweled blitz half the morning.

Of course, he gets a lot more work done when it's almost time for the big Rennaissance gatherings with knights & castles & dragons & crap. That is, if you consider spending a significant chunk of several weeks designing castles to pretend you're a knight in.

I assume this is why Kabar knives are so expensive - they pay some of their employees to sit around doing almost nothing all day.

Sounds like they must be ATOT'ers...most of whom ONLY post from work...

Ka-Bar Knives are ONLY manufactured in the U.S.A.
The Chinese are the "knock-off" Kings of the Universe.
They make very 'authentic'-looking' knives, but the Ka-Bar brand comes
from the factory in Olean, N.Y.

Taken directly from their website:
www.http://www.kabar.com/knives/us-made

U.S. MADE
There are three very important letters that separate these KA-BAR knives from all others - U.S.A.
We're so proud of our USA made knives, we print those three great letters right on the highest quality blade, so you'll never forget that KA-BAR knives are made in the land of the free and used by the brave.
