No way, cities formed way after rural towns perfected these things. Boning animals is much more a farm activity given the dearth of people, widespread availability of fauna, and penned enclosures. Oh, and absense of stigma.

I'm pretty sure the Gerbil/Hampster thing is unique to that particular subset of City culture.

For all I know the little bitch has a a record a mile long and tattoos in places that aren't legal either.

Still, don't let me dissuade you from jumping to summery judgement based on 4 paragraphs. Ah, such are the things lynch mobs are made of. I live not too far from Lynchburg VA, the namesake of lynch mobs everywhere and the home town of Jerry Falwell. I'm sure he'd approve.

Your city disagrees with you:
Lynchburg was named for its founder, John Lynch, who at the age of 17 started a ferry service across the James River in 1757. He was also responsible for Lynchburg's first bridge across the river, which replaced the ferry in 1812.

So someone in her family ratted her out?

"The hamster died from blunt force trauma, liver damage and a brain hemorrhage, he said."

Someone did an autopsy?

"A grand jury selection to consider Smith's case is set to begin on Friday in Brooklyn Criminal Court."

They are kidding, right?

God no wonder this state is broke and breaking.

Pretty soon you won't be able to step on a cockroach without the police knocking on your front door.

Your city disagrees with you:

You have it backwards. I said Lynchburg is the name sake of all lynch mobs, not all lynch mobs are the name sake of Lynchburg.

wikipedia said:
Charles Lynch (1736 – October 29, 1796) was a Virginia planter and American Revolutionary who headed an irregular court in Virginia to punish Loyalist supporters of the British during the American Revolutionary War. The terms "lynching" and "lynch law" apparently derive from his name.
Lynch was born in Virginia to Quaker immigrants from Ireland. The city of Lynchburg, Virginia, was named for one of his family members, probably his brother John.

What did you think? Somebody pulled the name out of a hat?

It's amazing how ATer's can compare stepping on a cockroach to killing someone's PET.

Bloody stupid. Killing animals means nothing, should be doable for any reason at all. And while killing animals because you're angry means you're messed up, putting people in jail for it is as dumb as putting people in jail for being likely to possibly kill people.

Killing pets shouldn't be done because of the human sadness caused, not because some animal died. "Cruelty to animals" is a stupid crime.

this wasnt a predetermined live dissection of a dog... she grabbed a hamster and chucked it. no different the squishing frogs or drowning ant hills.

She actually crushed in her hands then threw it. Her father was the one that reported her. Says alot about this bitch. Maybe, she'll learn her lesson now.

You think animals lives are worth anything? They're not. Property is one thing, but random animals are nothing.

Don't get me wrong, what the girl did was wrong. She destroyed (killed) the property (pet) of this family (humans). The crime she's charged with makes no sense, however.

Yes. One example - Dogs. They that assist the disabled, perform rescue(live and cadaver), save/guard/risk their lives(of their owners and military soldiers in Iraq), perform military/police work, etc. are more worthy than many humans.

The fact that you don't understand animal cruelty laws and why she is being charged demonstrates a lack of intelligence.

You come across here as being borderline psychotic.

Is that what you are - a psycho? You really think it's acceptable to kill any "random" animal for any reason whatsoever, including your own demented amusement, is alright?

That's fucked up, any way you look at it.

See, this is why we need guns. If that hamster was armed that 19-year old bitch would be one dead hoe.

You could always quote some John Stuart Mill at him but he'd probably say that guy was an idiot. No wait, he's say "who the hell is that? sounds like an idiot."

Actually, serial killers usually start out as kids torturing and killing animals and they tend to have above average IQs. Maybe that's this girl's problem although female serial killers are rare.

But all hamsters are cereal killers.
