"If Tom Harkin and his Democrat allies want to continue to act like political cannibals and pitch partisan hooey to anyone who'll listen, then they're eating their own," King said.
Who the hell uses the word hooey anymore?

"The dismembered and charred corpses of American contractors dangling over the Euphrates River, in comparison to the abuse committed by a few soldiers at Abu Ghraib, are like the crimes of Jeffrey Dahmer compared to those of Heidi Fleiss," King wrote. "What amounts to hazing is not even in the same ballpark as mass murder."

What an asshat!!

Were he and Rush separated at birth??

So you think the abuse and sexcapades in the prison is worse than the dismemberment and hanging of the charred contractors bodies?

Just curious.:)

Republican Rep. Steve King says the abuse of Iraqi prisoners by U.S. soldiers was little more than "hazing."
Damn! What kind of college did this guy attend?

Hmm a baton up your anus=hummer at Heidi's?!

These guys are confused. The mass murder in Iraq was technically Saddam's regime. It's unclear who exactly killed the US mercs but many bystanders appeared to support it. As for Berg's murderer; he's not Al Qaeda either. Berg's murder is truly sad considering he was an exceptional decent (albeit foolhardy) fellow. But is there really a qualitative difference between the thousands of Iraqis buried alive during the Gulf War and the wanton disregard for human decency shown by those that ambushed the US mercs?

I guess he wasn't in the Congress session where they showed over 1000 pictures and videos of the American torture, including forced rape and strangulation.

BBD,

Hasn't Abu Musab al-Zarqawi been tied to Al-Queada? I'm pretty sure I've read that somewhere.

"Hmm a baton up your anus=hummer at Heidi's?!"

You are mixing parts of two different analogies. Nice try.

Not partisan, I just know Bush is an abomination. There's a difference.

;)

Edit: And Steve King is apparently an idiot or a Bush Apologist. But I'm being redundant. ;)

Absolutely not, but his comments are stunningly foolish nevertheless.

I think, vis a vis these contractors, it's important to keep in mind they were highly-trained, highly-paid mercenaries with Special Ops experience. The reason we were paying Blackwater USA $1,000 per day, per man for their services was that their duties were highly risky. I think the word "contractor" has led the American public to envision these guys as kindly old communications technicians or the like, which they clearly weren't. None of this is meant to minimize the outrage people should feel at their murder and the abuses suffered on their corpses, of course, but let's be clear about who we were dealing with.

Since they don't "have to" follow the rules - it makes it incomparable? One doesn't discount the other - just wondering which he thinks is worse.

The soldiers were wrong, and the murderers of Berg were wrong. Both disgusting IMO.

Yes.

John McCain has said it.

Dick Morris has said it.

We MUST take the moral high ground. We MUST provide better treatment for the prisoners than they deserve. We MUST meet or exceed our own expectations and those the rest of the world places on us.

Interesting point, since at least 24 detainees have died since 9/11, and at least two have officially been classified as homicides. IMO these killings are worse (or at least more important) than those inflicted by terrorists, in that they were apparently committed by troops and/or contractors acting on behalf of the United States, and the victims were in no position to defend themselves (believe me, the former Spec Ops guys who work for Blackwater are ALWAYS in a position to defend themselves, and they were most certainly well armed, since they were performing "security duties").

I agree. The difference once again is that we are holding those responsible, accountable. Courts martials have started and other investigations are ongoing to see how far this goes up the chain.

Well, if the sources behind Seymour Hersh's article are telling the truth, we know it goes ALL the way up!

Wow. Just a little hazing? Whoever said that must be high.

It is certainly not torture....

Torture like art s all in the eye of the beholder. If these were U.S. troops being subjected to the same treatment in China after violating their air space I would think you and others would be thinking differently about this so called "hazing". Go tell John McCain what he endured at the hands of the North Vietnamese was just "hazing".

Yes and how is Abu Musab al-Zarqawi a representive of the Iraqi people ? Some of whom were mistakenly caught up in U.S. sweeps and locked up and then abused by U.S. troops ?
