It took an hr to copy 4gigs from dvd drive to usb drive

Why did it took so long to copy?
or is it normal?
 
What kind of hard drive do you have? The transfer rates (from the DVD drive to the USB drive, via the OS hdd) can be a factor if the hdd is slow enough.
 
Burned DVD? Windows could be working through a lot of correctable errors on the disc with read retries, which means that disc is getting ready to fail on you.
