Because the job of the parent is NOT the job of the teacher. I wish that both parents AND teachers would start to realize this.
Wait, what? So you're either saying parents shouldn't act as a teacher or a teacher shouldn't act as a parent...
Or a bit of both, with a dash of reason to add flavor.
🙂
I think it's a good idea for a child's education to come from a number of sources. Formalized education, with teachers who are trained and equipped for it, is generally a better idea than homeschooling your child until they're college-age...both in terms of learning and socialization. However, it's not the teacher's job to monitor, discipline, instill moral values, answer all life questions, drive to soccer games, and generally
parent the children...while certain aspects of this will occur at times, the parents also have to play their role and not count on the school system to do their parenting for them.
If the parents are doing their jobs, the students
should be decently behaved, finish their homework, and achieve a good learning environment, even with a fairly high student:teacher ratio. If the teachers are doing
their jobs, the kids should get a good well-rounded education without a bunch of the teacher's pet political points shoved in there.
