It snowed last night!

We need pictures to determine if this is actually snow, or just frost. It's funny what southerners will consider as being snow.

As a baseline this is what it looks like outside my house now:



We didn't really get much snow this year so far.

Yeah but you live in a frozen tundra wasteland, we get snow like 1-2 days every 3 years.

we're supposed to get more snow tomorrow followed by warm weather this weekend.

Yeah seems you guys get way more snow now days. The warm fronts can suck though, hate when it goes above freezing in winter as it messes up everything and makes a mess.

it's a winter season thing. Up in Northern Canuckistan, winter is supposed to be freakin cold until spring arrives.

this up/down cold/warn roller-coaster makes winter seem less like winter.

I can understand it. The snow gets slushy and wet making anything outside more annoying. If it stays cold you can run out in basically any sort of shoe and just shake the snow off after but around freezing and you have to use different shoes\boots or pay close attention to where you step. The mix of the remaining snow and wet brown\yellow ground makes it look bleak outside. Plus it only tends to get above freezing during the day which means there are those pools of water that refreeze into Southern Ice for the morning commute

No, the snow you see in the picture was all the snow we received. But GA governor declared state of emergency and closed the government offices in 83 counties due to the snow. I've lived in GA long enough to know how they operate in the cold and snow. They closed school one day last week just because they said it was too cold. It didn't even snow.

I just came back from walking my dog around the neighborhood and small sections of the road are still iced over. I thought for sure kids would go to school tomorrow but after the walk, I'm not 100% sure. I place the odds at 80% kids will go to school tomorrow. But I could still see them closing the schools again just to be completely safe.

Pretty much this. It just makes everything so messy because everything turns into slush and water, then it freezes, so if you didn't get a chance to shovel last time it snowed your driveway ends up all jagged and crappy then you're stuck with that for the rest of the year. The perfect weather is like -10C range, because it's warmish but still cold enough that snow is not melting.

It just makes everything so messy because everything turns into slush and water, then it freezes, so if you didn't get a chance to shovel last time it snowed your driveway ends up all jagged and crappy then you're stuck with that for the rest of the year. I don't like it staying that cold because all that needs to happen is a breezy day and it's freaking cold! Plus the backstreet (where we park) doesn't get plowed very well, so we large areas of hard packed snow with spots that aren't and it feels like driving over potholes. A couple of days of melting fixes that (usually).

Yup, and when the snow piles melt fast it causes more problems via flooding. I prefer it just stay cold, so the snow is powdery and easier to deal with, and melts and a steady pace

We got about 6 inches here in Apex, NC ... not going to shovel it, as it should get to mid 50's on Friday .. most it will melt. If not, we have a good shovel and a snow thrower if we need to use them.

Lol, that's a rugged looking shovel. I have a few plastic ones, metal doesn't work so well on my Frost heaved driveway.

Got that years ago (around 2002 or so) and I think it was either Ace or TruValue hardware store. Not like the cheap ones you get now at Home Depot or Lowes. This shovel was built to last and can handle heavy snow with ease.

My car door lock has been freezing, with this snow piled on top. I was locked out of my car twice yesterday ... when I went to leave for work, AND when I went to head home after work. Not a big problem when home. But, leaving work last night, I latched/locked the building before I realized the car had done frizze shut, so I was stuck in the cold parking lot until someone came by with a key. My key to the building was locked in my car. I grabbed a cup of warm water from inside and thawed my car door.

I left it unlatched over night (having learned my lesson), and this morning the door wouldn't latch shut ... until I drove to work and parked it in full sun for 40 minutes. It got down to 15°F last night.

Oh man - I had a very similar experience back in the day. Door froze shut? "Well I learned my lesson - won't let that happen again!" So I left it unlatched which meant it just froze open and the door wouldn't stay shut. "Fuck!"

I think I cleaned off all the grease on the latch and regreased it which solved the problem but its been a long time so I might be wrong

I dented the tailgate of my truck kicking the shit out of it. This is the second winter I've had, and I've had issues with it sticking. My dumb ass only just realized it's the cover sticking to the top of the gate, and it could be easily freed by sliding a knife between them. I didn't have to kick the shit out of it :^S

It's a work truck, and it's got stuff I need in it. I also don't care that much. It's a tool. Beat the shit out of it, and when it's done, pat it on the hood, tell it it was a good truck, and send it to the junk yard. BUT, I'd prefer not beating the shit out of it needlessly. If it gets damaged, I prefer it went to a good cause, not because I was too stupid to understand what was happening.

I broke down and bought a snow blower on black Friday.
We finally got just enough snow here in Denver to justify using it (6").
This La Niña s**t needs to end.
