woke up to a winter wonderland. This happens once every three years or so, my kids are excited! I’ve already checked in as "safe" on Facebook.

Was in Dallas for a "snow-storm" once ... less then 1 inch and the entire metro-area was pretty much shut down with 20 accidents per mile on highways.

We got a few inches over the last 2 days in the Chicago area. Its like 4 inches total, people drive like its been a blizzard ... I don't understand it.
EVERY WINTER we get snow, usually we get a lot more than this, this is practically nothing

WHY GRIDLOCK CRASHLANDS!?!?!?! infuriating!

North GA here - we got a light dusting (at most .25", you can still see grass) and the kids are out on "school from home". What's "school from home", you ask? It's when the teachers assign homework online that none of the kids do on the snow day so they give them an extra day to do it after they get back. There was so much outrage a few years ago because there were a lot of snow days that had to be made up after the school year and vacations were impacted that they developed this alternative that doesn't count as a day missed.

North metro Atlanta here and I was pleasantly surprised to see light snow on the ground this morning when I took my puppy out to pee. School and work are canceled. I love living in the South.

Got a couple inches here. I took off work to go hiking in it, This might be the only winter I get this year, so I'll take what I can get. Went to a local park before the sun came up, and the snow was still falling. First time I went here. I wasn't a fan, cause it's highly used, and the first part is close to a road with a bunch of noise. I did especially like walking next to the bamboo grove. Some of the stalks were bent over, and it since it was close to artificial light, they sparkled. Didn't see many animals, though I did startle a beaver into the water, but I never saw him. Trails were fairly rugged, and my already sore back got worse, as well as one of my knees. Walked a few miles altogether. Need to find a place farther out.

They don't clear the roads here in the south. At least in smaller cities. So you get to drive on ice until the sun warms things. You might get sand here and there.
I saw local footage of an 18-wheeler forging ahead toward the top of an icy incline, it lost traction, halted, then slid backwards downhill into an intersection where the jacknifing trailer took out a traffic signal pole. Shoved it into the power lines.

I holed up yesterday, barely went out of the house.

It didn't snow here last night!!

That's actually a surprise. We were on the edge of a storm that could have been 6-8" if the rain/snow line set up south of us and almost nothing if it set up north of us. This winter has been a series of unpleasant surprises, expect 2" and get 5", expect 6" and get 12" etc. This one we expected a pretty good hit and got rain, a few flurries and no accumulations. Yay! We'll take small victories.

I think I see some of that dreaded southern ice under the snow.

Meh, a few inches today. Supposed to get 6-9, but it's ok if they're wrong....shoveled it, not worth the blower. I got a couple helpers too.

I just came back from a walk and it's treacherous out there. I almost slipped on the dreaded southern ice couple of times. School will definitely be canceled again tomorrow due to the deadly southern ice. My daughter is happy.

Between mountains of snow and still having to go to work vs. a few inches of snow and work being closed, I think the Southerners have it better...

I'm probably 25 or 30 miles north of you and ours is almost completely melted. I'll be surprised if school is canceled again tomorrow but I've been surprised before.

I walked around my neighborhood and the sun melted the open areas but areas the sunlight is blocked by trees are still completely frozen. The last time it snowed, they closed the schools and my neighborhood roads were about 99% clear. At the moment, roads are probably around 70% clear. The remaining 30% in the shade isn't going to melt if it hasn't already and the sun is going down in about 3 hours. I will be shocked if schools are not canceled for tomorrow for Fulton.

We need pictures to determine if this is actually snow, or just frost. It's funny what southerners will consider as being snow. :p

As a baseline this is what it looks like outside my house now:

We didn't really get much snow this year so far.
