It says that OutLook Express isn't a Win32 program

My Windows 2000 crashed (when do I learn it? always restart when software asks you to) and now it says that OutLook Express isn't a Win32 program and cannot be run. It's not the first time I've had this kind of error, reinstalling the software helps, got the same error before but installing IE6.0 made the prog work again. But as I have the newest IE I don't know how the reinstall/update the prog. Any idea?

Go to Add/Remove programs under Control Panel. Hit the button under the entry for IE6. There should be an option there to Repair IE. Give that a go.

IE isn't listed in Add/Remove programs. Have done what you suggested with other progs, but cannot as there's no entry for IE.

mmmmmm...... i think it's caused by a virus (that not valid Win32 software msg). scan yer system. Or try to extract the files from the Win2K cd. i dunno about win2k, but in win 98SE you can type "sfc" on Run command (or "msconfig" on WinME/XP) select extract files and extract the Outlook exe file.

You were right NEVERwinter, didn't expect that to be the cause of my problems. Got Panda and it found and removed the virus and now OutLook Express work again. I must have had the virus for quite a while since it's about two months ago I got the message for the first time but I thought it was due to corruption from the system having crashed.
Morale: have an anti-virus program installed when gettign files from Morpheus (must be where I got the virus from).

Edit: the name of the virus was W32/Weird.10240.A, never heard of it. It just sucks that I deleted several good files and progs because I thought they were corrupted. Oh well, I shouldn't have had those progs anyway 😛.
