<< When interviewed, Mr. Amish had this to say,"I believe it was called back by it's maker. It's spirit will soon? be born again in a new body. >>

Why does soon have a ? on it?? Is that something you will patent?:p
>>

Sorry, it's a running joke at the MatroxUsers forums since all we ever here about Matrox releasing a new card is that it will be released SOON. ;)

Been that way since the G200.

Ah, Parhelia... Worthy successor to G400 :).

But, with little luck, there will be a chip coming up that puts even Parhelia to shame ;)... One thing is pretty sure: my next card will be neither NVIDIA nor Ati...

I heard Parhelia can simultaneously do dishes & give head while pushing 150 fps @ 1600x1200x32 RTCW, it should be great!

;)

BTW, Amish, if you can't resurrect the G400 I have a G450 that I might be willing to part with (32 MB DDR, dualhead).

Yes, Parhelia will be a mighty chip. Better than anything that NVIDIA or Ati has. And I might get one myself. But as for the "other" chip... Well, good things come to those who wait ;).

EDIT: just heard some new info regarding Parhelia. And if that info is true, it's REALLY going to kick some major ass!

<< LOL, isn't the G400 like equal to a TNT2? :Q

Cheers!

Featurewise, yes, but be careful. The Matrox Zealots will spam you with how great their image quality is as well as how great their dual monitor setup is :Q

FYI, I used to own a G400... needless to say, I think my Radeon has been far better than it.

For what? I have great drivers for 100% of the OSes I use for my G400, but I would have trouble finding as high a quality, open source, free (as in speech) drivers for OpenBSD/Linux/FreeBSD for a TNT2.

Yes it is. Same generation, but as was mentioned, the image quality is better as well as the 2D. It is also capable of playing in 32bit color. Even my friends Geforce GTS isn't capable of that. :)

I haven't upgraded yet because Matrox hasn't released a card that was worth the upgrade and I haven't seen much from ATI, except for the same buggy dirvers (I've heard). I'll be cold in the ground before I put a nvidia POS in this machine. ;)

Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

The comparison is to overall performance and capabilities. The only thing that stood out with Matrox at the time was environmental bump mapping.

Cheers!

I loved my G450, but I finally wanted to do some gaming. If I get over that, the G450 will go back in.

I can most definitely tell a 2D difference between my GF3 & my G450, but then again the GF3 kicks the G450's ass as a gaming card.

...and 32bit game play. Everyone else did it (except 3dfx) but they all took a HUGE performance hit, except Matrox. Their 32bit and 16bit performance was really close to being the same.

As soon as Duke Nukem Forever is launched, right? Or will that be shortly before the the TFC2 launch?
