LOL!!!!!
I'm gonna officially make myself an IT guy in this thread only 'cuz the one we have really hasn't done anything that I couldn't do in the last 11 years here!!!
Here's how it typically starts...........
"Hey, ummmm.....my computer did this thing where it slowed down for a sec, then it made a noise like I pushed keys too many times, then it just locked up."
My typical reply (using Joe Isuzu voice)...........
"OK, will your pc do anything right now?"
Tap, tap, tap........Bang, bang, bang. "Ummm.....no!"
"OK, push in & hold the power button for a few seconds 'til it turns off."
(They usually fail at this part 'cuz they start to push the power button before I finish my sentence)
"OK, did that".
Now.......before I can tell 'em to give it a few seconds rest, they're already bangin' away at it.
"OK, it's up thanks!"
"Great, have fun!"
That solves about 90% of our network problems.
If and when the server goes berzerk, it's typically a hardware device dyin' & I usually replace it myself).
