when they get a bad haircut, they can just tie it up and there's not much difference in look.

when guys with short hair like me get a bad haircut, it's so noticeable and it kills my confidence. Barbers are so inconsistent from different shops. I can tell three different barbers the same exact line describing what I want and the outcome can be completely different. That pisses me off so much. It's a damn risk every single time I move to a new place looking for the right barber. I still haven't found one who I like and many F'ed up haircuts have occurred. Girls have it easy.. they don't know what a real butchered haircut is. How much will your confidence be affected if someone ran a hair clipper through the top of your head leaving a short patch of uneven hair. Same thing.
That's why I'm so damn picky and careful of my haircuts and the barbers bitch to me how I am so picky. If you listened to what I wanted the first time, I would have more trust in your shitty barber school accreditation.
 
I have yet to go to a barber and have a bad haircut. I guess my style isn't too strange or anything; not exactly "cool" either, but hey, it works. 🙂

I can tell you for certain that few women are happy with their haircuts, they never turn out the way they want them too and it is just as much of a letdown as you are feeling.

It sounds like you are the problem not the barber. You are obviously not telling them what you want properly.

no I try. But they don't even listen most of the time. My head shape is odd and it's very critical that my short haircuts are cut correctly so that I don't look like a tool from the front/side/back view.
They say "I know what you want" so I hold on to that small glimmer of hope that this is the barber that I can call my own from now on.
I give them my trust and they end up killing my confidence and mood for the rest of the week.

Yep, this. No matter how oddly-shaped your noggin' is, or how picky you are about the cut you receive, it's up to you to tell the barber exactly how you want your hair cut.

If that means telling them to cut a 1/8" at a time until you say STOP, and then move to the next side, so be it.

If you're going to a barber/stylist/whatever that won't "take orders" then you need to find another one.

IOW: How you look = all your fault.

Halle Berry, for example, is stunning with short hair.

Then again, she's quite attractive with any kind of hair... or even no hair at all.
 
I'd rather keep my todger and a semblance of sanity. Just get a buzzcut, it's simple as can be and somewhat in fashion, unless you're emo or something.
 
I get out of the shower, run my fingers through my hair and walk out the door.

I just get my gf to cut mine. that way if she fucks it up she has to look at it too.
Plus it's not your barbers fault you have a weird shaped head.
