Lincoln LS 2003 = 3755lbs
'99 Altima = 2921lbs

PaleRider, I think you have his Altima mixed up with the super-sized newer models. The '99 was the final year of the small Altimas. Now the Sentra moved up to the size of the old Altima, and the Versa took the place of the compact car bracket for Nissan.

The Lincoln *is* a nice car btw.

OP, how about a ~2 year old Scion TC? Can be had with 160 or 200hp, smallish and light, great stereos, Toyota parts/reliability, good fuel economy.

EDIT : Forget used, with the prices of what you're looking for you could get new :)

EDIT 2 : RSX-S are also in your range :)

You won't buy a domestic car yet your less than ten year old Japanese car is near death?

Where did I say it's near death? I've had it for 5 years now, it's just been in an accident, it's got 150k miles on it, and I would like a new car.

And where did I say I wouldn't buy domestic because of questionable reliability?

You do a lot of assuming.

Yeah I do. You edited your message to include more info.

Kind of like you assume about domestics eh?

LS8 isn't a large car btw. It's similar in size to your Altima.

What am I assuming about domestics? I just don't like their styling. Everything seems to be getting more bulbous and ugly as time goes on. Please note: This is my OPINION, not a fact, so please don't come back at me again. I've already made up my mind.

It's at least been semi-helpful, I'm getting more and more interested in an Accord Coupe as time goes on.

Got a test drive tomorrow afternoon!

Financing secured! It's all over but the crying.

I did get the quote back from the dealer and he quoted me only a few hundred over invoice (???). Am I really not going to have to do any negotiating on this? It can't be THAT easy, can it?

Accord? Have you tried one? They're quite large/heavy compared to what you're used to. Nice cars though.

How big does it need to be?

For basic fun if you don't need more than 2 seats it's very, very hard to beat a Miata. Handles beautifully, reliable, comfortable. Great little cars.

I do like your choice of an Accord Coupe as well though. Solid car, I like the styling, and it's reasonably fun to drive while still being comfortable.

I just got back from the test drive.

I'm very impressed! The pickup on that thing was unbelievable. It's like it was built to launch off lines. I was a bit dismayed at the blind spots, but I'm a good driver (I know, everyone says that) and I'll get used to it.

I drove a blue one with black leather, and it was pure sex. That thing looked awesome.

I made sure to drop hints to the salesman that I was considering an Altima Coupe (even though I'm not) and that I'd get back to him. He was very cool and not pushy at all.

Looks like this weekend or the next and I'll be a proud new owner!

Well if you're gonna buy USED I'd say go for the bimmer. You might pay more for the parts but they depreciate like a rock.

Is my sarcasm meter broken, or are both those points negatives?

If you're buying a used vehicle with no intention to resell, I find it to be a HUGE positive.

For instance, look at used car prices on the S2K vs a 330ci. I love the s2k and all, but it doesn't depreciate for SHIT. Maybe 14k off original price after 5 years? Take a bimmer during the same timeframe and it would've depreciated 30-40k.

Like I said, I love the s2k and all, but both vehicles side by side I'd take the bmw no contest.

Learn to drive stick.

Learn to read. I said I want an Automatic.

oh i know how to read. that's why i told you to learn to drive manual.

What exactly are you adding to the conversation by suggesting something I have no interest in?

You're like the guy that enters a thread titled "Dell or HP laptop?" and says "Macbook".

i don't know about you, but i'd personally shy away from honda's first-year offerings, esp accord's.

although i saw a new accord coupe on my way home. it looked very nice.

Well, I haven't seem any reports of problems as of yet, and it's been out for 6 months, so I'm not too worried.
