According to the rules we are not even a level 1 civilization yet. Here is a link. It's a little long but very interesting. check it out.

Actually the half life of earth was 4.5 billion years. That means the Earth is probably gone before the Sun becomes grander and pretty much explodes and makes our solar system obsolete.
We can however move to other planets (ie Mars), given the technology that can become available through research and development. Because the Sun will only get big as far as the Earth. It will still be thousands of light years away from Mars and further. But without the Suns gravitational force, Mars itself will left orbitless and it just become a cold, desolate large meteor. I mean Science can help us (humans) to go into and start colonies in other solar systems. This sounds like science fiction, but surely is possible.
(on a side note, I don't play D&G, don't watch Stra Threk, War.. etc...)
My major in College WAS astrophysics and astronomy. Then it depressed me... now I'm a BIO major.
*also like the Highlander joke.... (favorite TV show I might add)
ROFL!It will still be thousands of light years away from Mars and further.

Dude, you measure the distance to mars in miles or kilometers, not light years![]()
