A lot of people seem to want things to be something they aren't. There is a level of sarcasm built into the phrase "it is what it is" that I don't think a lot of people get. Everyone knows that the statement is declaring something so obvious that it's borderline retarded to mention. The fact that someone says it anyway means that they think you're so retarded that it needs to be said for you to get it.

Still that song and the video are, appropriately, epic.

Before my time, but Epic came out in 89 and just looking at RHCP's release/single history I'm pretty sure they weren't too big at the time. Though I don't know either band beyond a handful of tracks.

Sort of on topic, I don't know why but whenever I read that a device "sips power" I basically want the writer to choke on said device.

This is one of those things where the bitching about its use is eclipsing the actual original annoyance itself.

I'm seeing it being used a lot more often in business. It's a way of saying "tough shit, get over it", but nicer.

For me, its basically someone admitting they know there's a problem but that they aren't going to do anything about it. Its actually become valuable in that its a good tipoff about the person saying it, which helps me to not waste time with them.

i agree with that, and i see a lot of professional athletes use this saying now.

when they say it though it is usually okay, because 95% of the questions they get asked by the media are fucking stupid as shit.

"The 2nd half your guys defense seemed to fall apart and you guys lost the game. What are you going to do to fix this next week?"

"We will get our defense better, but for the game today, it is what it is"
