Scary what still happens to be accepted some places in the world in 2014.

Reverend Father Simon Lokodo

Qn: When we talk about culture, how would your community—the Karamojong—react to gay people?

In Karamoja, if they know you are gay you are assassinated. They push a piece of wood through your behind and leave you to go die in the bush.

Nice christian values there.

Nice christian values there.

Those values are a perversion of Christianity. Unfortunately its been the most conservative, reactionary, and frankly bigoted branches of the Christian faith that have been sending missionaries to Africa for decades that has helped lead to the current environment.

I bet there are all kinds of poor victimized christians out there that would see this and agree with it wholeheartedly...despite the overwhelming presence of missionaries in Uganda promoting (successfully at that) their warped religion and it's social prejudices that feed views like this.

The guy in the pic even has a cross pinned on his jacket! Wtf kind of atheist is that? I think whoever made that meme needs to stop channeling Sarah Palin and crawl out from the rock they've apparently been under for awhile.

Yes, Africa is a scary place. I don't recommend going there. Particularly the areas rich in machetes and ethnic tensions, who are currently putting their christian values on display for the world to see. But nevermind the campaign of 'mass murder by machete' currently in progress; there are some backwards politicians who need to have their beliefs attributed to those evil atheists, the people who happen to disagree with idiot in the story and everything he stands for.

Atheism isn't a problem. Dogma and xenophobia are the problem.

Edit: I misconstrued the addition of 'atheist agenda' on the meme, my apologies. Because I've labels like that in all sorts of other memes, I took the mention of 'atheist agenda' as an indictment, a callout of sorts against atheists. Also used to those sporting the victim mentality not noticed things in their own support (like the guys pin). Mea cupla. I do stand by my words regarding idiot evangelical missionaries. however.

No, no. He has it all wrong. The question is if it's a legitimate rape or just rape-rape.

Sad to say but this is a product of Christian Missionary Teachings. You have no idea of the crazies going there to convert the heathen Africans.

Yeah, maybe they should start teaching that rape and specially of children is not really something that can be regarded as Christian values before they spread their homophobic 'Christian' views.

Which then leads to the question, do the bodies of African women have ways of 'dealing with' pregnancy via rape like American women do?

Someone call up those republican experts on female physiology who also happen to serve in Congress. We need to get to the bottom of this!

Dunno, let's ask Whoopi Goldberg while we're at it ok?

Who said it did? Did I hit a nerve? Methinks so, otherwise you wouldn't be pretending anyone here gives a tinkers cuss what Whoopi thinks or says. I certainly don't, why do you? What effect does she have on anything in comparison to the ongoing shoe eating antics of a group of old white guys who write bills and pass legislation? Legislation, mind you, that regards a subject these guys seem almost always completely ignorant.

You guys don't even try to make logical comparisons anymore, I love it.

Me: *makes jab at ongoing and varied GOTP handicap with women*

You: Oh yeah, well look what Whoopi Goldberg said! HA!

Me: Oh you.

Very similar to the criticism of official republican fiscal agenda being replied to with a reference to some incensed black lady announcing on camera that she thought Obama was going to pay her bills.

*sigh* Lather, rinse, repeat.

Alas, a Lot of the Bible appears to agree with the Ugandan Minister for Ethics.

Genesis 19:8 said:
Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

Ask Whoopi Goldberg about Roman Polanski. :\

That's adherence to the laws of hospitality, and how you never let a guest under your roof come to harm. He would have sacrificed his daughters to keep his guests from getting raped by the mob. Lot was stuck between a rock and a hard place.
